Zulhadi Omar

Zulhadi Omar, also known as Eddie Teyo, is a Malaysian handyman and sales executive. He was born on 17 July 1978 at the Batu Pahat Hospital in Johor. [1] Due to a hospital mix-up following erroneous switch at birth, he was wrongly recorded born as a Malay Muslim of couple Omar Saim and Hasnah Salleh, while in fact he is the biological son of Chinese and Buddhist parent Teyo Ma Liong (or Teo Ma Liong) and Lim Sik Hai as confirmed in a DNA test. [2] He is known for his many lawsuits against Malaysia in a bid to officially change faith from Islam to Buddhism. [3] [4] [5]

The national flag of Malaysia, also known as the Stripes of Glory, is composed of a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes along the fly and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star known as the Bintang Persekutuan. The 14 stripes, of equal width, represent the equal status in the federation of the 13 member states and the federal territories, while the 14 points of the star represent the unity among these entities. The crescent represents Islam, the country's state religion; the blue canton symbolises the unity of the Malaysian people; the yellow of the star and crescent is the royal colour of the Malay rulers, the red stripes represent bravery and the white stripes represent purity. It is in the stars and stripes family of flags.

Islam is the state religion of Malaysia, as per Article 3 of the Constitution. Meanwhile, other religions can be practised by non-Malay citizens of the country. In addition, per Article 160, one must be Muslim to be considered Malay. As of the 2020 Population and Housing Census, 63.5 percent of the population practices Islam; 18.7 percent Buddhism; 9.1 percent Christianity; 6.1 percent Hinduism; and 2.7 percent other religion or gave no information. The remainder is accounted for by other faiths, including Animism, Folk religion, Sikhism, Baháʼí Faith and other belief systems. The states of Sarawak and Penang and the federal territory of Kuala Lumpur have non-Muslim majorities. Numbers of self-described atheists in Malaysia are few as renouncing Islam is prohibited for Muslims in Malaysia. As such, the actual number of atheists or converts in the country is hard to ascertain out of fear from being ostracised or prosecution. The state has come under criticism from human rights organisations for the government's discrimination against atheists, with some cabinet members saying that "the freedom of religion is not the freedom from religion".

Ling Liong Sik is a Malaysian politician. He was the sixth president of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a component party of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and also the former Malaysian Minister for Transport. Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak filed the suit against Ling Liong Sik on 2015, alleging that Ling had made libellous remarks against him in an article carried on a news portal.

Datuk Tiong Thai King is a Malaysian politician who served as Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Dudong from May 2016 to December 2021 and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lanang from April 1995 to May 2013. He was a member of the federal and state opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) before he quits politics in 2021. Previously he was a member of the Sarawak United Peoples' Party (SUPP), a component party of the federal and state ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition and a former component party of the federal ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.

Pang Hok Liong is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who has served the Member of Parliament (MP) for Labis since May 2018. He served as the Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bekok from October 1990 to April 1995. He is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and formerly Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalitions.
