Defending champion Pete Sampras defeated Andre Agassi in the final, 5–7, 6–3, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1994 Miami Open. With the win, he completed the Sunshine Double. The start of the final had been delayed for 50 minutes while Sampras received treatment for a stomach virus, and Agassi had the right to claim a walkover victory. Agassi instead chose to give Sampras the necessary time to receive the treatment that he needed so that he could play in the final.

The 1993 Waldbaum's Hamlet Cup was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 13th edition of the event known that year as the Waldbaum's Hamlet Cup, and was part of the World Series of the 1993 ATP Tour. It took place at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack, Long Island, New York, United States, from August 23 through August 29, 1993.

The 1999 Croatian Indoors was a men's tennis tournament played on carpet courts in Copenhagen, Denmark, that was part of the International Series of the 1999 ATP Tour. It was the twelfth edition of the tournament and was held from 2 February until 9 February 1998.

Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Daniel Vacek were the defending champions, but lost in the quarterfinals to Karsten Braasch and Jim Grabb.

Marc-Kevin Goellner was the defending champion, but did not compete this year.

Sergio Casal and Emilio Sánchez were the defending champions, but Emilio Sánchez did not compete this year. Casal teamed up with Javier Sánchez and lost in the semifinals to Pablo Albano and Javier Frana.
