Andre Agassi defeated Rainer Schüttler in the final, 6–2, 6–2, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2003 Australian Open. It was his fourth Australian Open title and his eighth and last major title overall. With the win, Agassi claimed his 21st consecutive match win at the Australian Open, as he won the title in 2000 and 2001.

The World Team Cup, Davis Cup and Grand Slam Cup are included in this calendar but did not count towards the Tour.

The 2001 Milan Indoor was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts at the PalaLido in Milan, Italy and was part of the International Series of the 2001 ATP Tour. It was the 24th edition of the tournament and ran from 29 January through 4 February 2001.

Alberto Berasategui was the defending champion, but chose to compete at Stuttgart during the same week.

Defending champion Michael Chang defeated Bohdan Ulihrach in the final, 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 6–3 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 1997 Indian Wells Masters.

Thomas Enqvist defeated the defending champion Richard Krajicek in the final, 6–1, 6–4, 5–7, 7–5 to win the singles tennis title at the 1999 Eurocard Open.

Wayne Ferreira defeated Lleyton Hewitt in the final, 7–6(8–6), 3–6, 6–7(5–7), 7–6 (7–2), 6–2 to win the singles tennis title at the 2000 Eurocard Open. With the win, Ferreira ended a 4-year drought in his professional career, after winning his last tournament at Toronto in 1996.

The 1996 IPB Czech Indoor was a men's tennis tournament played on indoor carpet courts at the ČEZ Aréna in Ostrava in the Czech Republic and was part of the World Series of the 1996 ATP Tour. The tournament ran from 14 October through 20 October 1996. Unseeded David Prinosil won the singles title.

The 2001 Heineken Trophy was a tennis tournament played on grass courts in Rosmalen, 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands that was part of the International Series of the 2001 ATP Tour and of Tier III of the 2001 WTA Tour. The tournament was held from June 18 through June 24, 2001.

The 1996 Indonesia Open – Singles was an event of the 1996 Indonesia Open men's tennis tournament which held from 8 January until 14 January 1996 at the Gelora Senayan Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament was part of World Series of the 1996 ATP Tour. The singles draw consisted of 32 players and eight of them were seeded.

Albert Costa was the defending champion but did not compete that year.

The 1999 Japan Open Tennis Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan that was part of the International Series Gold of the 1999 ATP Tour. The tournament was held from April 12 through April 18, 1999.

The 2000 Heineken Open Shanghai was a men's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts in Shanghai, China that was part of the International Series of the 2000 ATP Tour. It was the fifth edition of the tournament and ran from 16 October through 22 October 2000. First-seeded Magnus Norman won the singles title.

Sergi Bruguera was the two-time defending champion but chose to compete at Kitzbühel during the same week, losing at the third round.
