The ICC Americas Championship is the continental cricket championship for the Americas region, for Affiliate and Associate members of the International Cricket Council in North, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. Since 2006, the tournament is organized in three divisions.

Contents

The division three was played in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This tournament was won by Turks and Caicos and won one spot in the division two (played in Paramaribo, Suriname. The division two was won by the host. Suriname won one spot in the division one. The division one was played in Fort Lauderdale, United States, and was won by the host. [1]

Division One

Division One was held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, commencing on November 25. Six teams took part: United States (hosts), Bermuda (holders), Canada, Argentina, Cayman Islands, and Suriname (making their first appearance at this level after winning Division Two. [2] The three venues was Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City, Lauderhill Cricket Stadium Turf Ground and Lauderhill Cricket Stadium Artificial Ground both in Fort Lauderdale

United States won the tournament won all its games. Sushil Nadkarni (USA) was named the player of the series. Nadkarni was the leader in runs with 407 and Imran Awan (USA) and Diego Lord (Argentina) taken 9 wickets. Suriname finished bottom of the table, and were relegated back to Division Two.

Division two

The 2008 Division Three tournament, held in Suriname, saw a very close contest, with three teams each finishing with two wins. The host nation defied the odds going into the last game, skittling the Bahamas for just 57 runs, allowing them to jump to the top of the table and qualify for Division One. [3] Troy Dudnauth (Suriname) was named the player of the tournament.

Division three

The 2008 Division Three tournament was held in Argentina and again saw an official international debut, this time that of Peru. The tournament was won by the Turks and Caicos Islands who thereby gained a place in the 2008 edition of Division Two in Suriname. [4] Simon Shalders (Chile) was named the player of the tournament

United States national cricket team Sports team representing the U.S. internationally

The United States national cricket team is the team that represents the United States in international cricket. The team was formerly organised by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), which became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1965. In June 2017, the USACA was expelled by the ICC due to governance and financing issues, with the U.S. team being temporarily overseen by ICC Americas until a new sanctioning body was established. In January 2019, associate membership was officially granted to USA Cricket.

Argentina national cricket team

The Argentina national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Argentina in international cricket. The team is organised by the Argentina Cricket Association (ACA), which became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1974.

Chile national cricket team

The Chile national cricket team is the team that represents the Republic of Chile in international cricket. The team is organised by the Chilean Cricket Association, which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2001 and an associate member in 2017. However, the national side had debuted as early as 1893, when it played Argentina in Santiago. Chile began playing regular international matches in the early 1920s, and, with the exception of a gap during World War II, has continued to do so since then. Until the team affiliated to the ICC, its opponents were almost all other South American teams. It first participated in an ICC tournament in 2006, when it fielded a team in division three of the 2006 ICC Americas Championship. In the South American Championships, which began in 1995, Chile has participated in every edition, but won only twice, in 2011 & 2016.

Panama national cricket team

The Panama national cricket team represents the Republic of Panama in international cricket competitions. The Panama Cricket Association became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2002 and is an associate member since 2017. Their international debut is believed to have taken place against a side from Trinidad and Tobago in 1964.

Suriname national cricket team

The Suriname national cricket team is the team that represents the Republic of Suriname in international cricket. The team is organised by the Surinaamse Cricket Bond, which has been an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2011.

Turks and Caicos Islands national cricket team

The Turks and Caicos Islands cricket team is the team that represents the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands in international cricket.

The ICC Americas Championship is a one-day cricket tournament organised by ICC Americas for non-Test national cricket teams in the Americas affiliated with the International Cricket Council. As well as providing the opportunity for national teams to play international matches against teams of a similar standard, it also provides qualification into the ICC World Cricket League.

ICC Americas is an international body which oversees cricket in countries in the Americas. It is a subordinate body to the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Peru national cricket team is the team that represents the Republic of Peru in international cricket. The Peruvian national side made its international debut in 1927, represented by the Lima Cricket and Football Club, playing against a touring MCC team. Regular competition against other South American teams began in the 1960s, and has continued into the present.

Central Broward Park Sports stadium

Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, formerly Central Broward Regional Park and Central Broward Stadium, is a large county park in Lauderhill, Florida, and the only cricket stadium in the United States. It is owned and operated by Broward County. It opened on November 9, 2007, at a construction cost of $70 million. It is located at the corner of US 441 and State Road 838.

Cricket in the West Indies

In the sport of cricket, the West Indies is a sporting confederation of fifteen mainly English-speaking Caribbean countries and territories, many of which historically formed the British West Indies. It consists of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States Virgin Islands. Gregory Tyrone Taylor is a Bahamian cricketer and the captain of the Bahamas national cricket team. Taylor is a left-handed batsman who is a left-arm bowler. Taylor also played as an occasional wicketkeeper.

ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Americas Qualifier is an international cricket tournament contested by under-19 national teams from the ICC Americas region. The tournament has run bi-annually since 2001, occasionally with more than one division. The championship also serves as a qualification tournament for the Under-19 World Cup, though the number of teams progressing has varied. The most recent tournament was held in Canada and won by Canada. Canada are by far the most successful team overall, winning seven titles, to the two won by the United States and the single title won by Bermuda.

The 2013 ICC World Cricket League Americas Region Twenty20 Division Two is a cricket tournament that took place between 5–9 February 2013. The Bahamas hosted the event.

The 2013 ICC Americas Twenty20 Division One is a cricket tournament that took place between 18–24 March 2013. The United States hosted the event, with all matches played at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida.

The 2015 ICC Americas Twenty20 Division One was a cricket tournament held in the United States from 3–10 May 2015. All matches were played at the World Sports Park in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Akeem Levar Dodson is an American professional cricketer. From New York City, he made his senior debut for the American national team in 2008, having earlier played for the national under-19 side at the 2006 Under-19 World Cup. A right-handed wicket-keeper/batsman, Dodson has played regularly at international tournaments since making his debut, including at the 2013 and 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifiers.
