Abul Khair was a Bangladeshi television and film actor. [1] [2] He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor four times for his roles in the films Dahan (1985), Rajlakshmi Srikanta (1987), Anya Jibon (1995) and Dukhai (1997). [3]

Career

Khair's acting career started in the mid 1950s . Later in life when he again started performing in television he acted in many Humayun Ahmed's television drama and film drama serial Ei Shob Din Ratri . He later acted in Bohubrihi , Aaj Robibar , Ayomoy and others. [1]

Aaj Robibar is a Bangladeshi television sitcom created by Humayun Ahmed that was originally aired on BTV in 1996. The series was directed by Monir Hossain Jibon. The lead characters were played by Abul Khair, Abul Hayat, Zahid Hasan, Meher Afroz Shaon, Shila Ahmed, Faruque Ahmed, Asaduzzaman Noor and Suborna Mustafa. It is cited as one of the most popular sitcoms in Bangladesh of the 90's, quotes from numerous episodes have become catchphrases in popular culture. It was re-aired in Hindi on the Indian television channel Star Plus in 2017.

Asaduzzaman Mohammad Raisul Islam is a Bangladeshi freedom fighter and an actor in radio, theatre, television and film. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor four times for his roles in the films Padma Nadir Majhi (1992), Anya Jibon (1995), Dukhai (1997) and Lalsalu (2001). Abul Hayat is a Bangladeshi actor. He is also a writer, civil engineer and director. He earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Daruchini Dwip (2007) and was awarded Ekushey Padak for his acting in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He portrayed the Misir Ali character in the television film, Onno Bhuboner Cheleta.

The film's screenplay and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sheikh Niamat Ali and also produced the film from his own banner S Niamot Ali productions. The film stars Raisul Islam Asad, Champa, Abul Khair, Shanta Islam, Chitralekha Guho, Tamalika Karmokar and others. In 1991, the film received the National Film Award for the best film award with the other 11 categories.

Rajlakshmi Srikanta is a Bangladeshi Bengali language film released in 1987. The film is directed by Bulbul Ahmed and based on a novel by Saratchandra Chattopadhyay. The screenplay and dialogues of the film were written by Bulbul Ahmed, Mumtazuddin Ahmed and Zahirul Haque. Shabana and Bulbul Ahmed acted in the title role of the film. Lutfun Nahar Lata or Lota is a Bangladeshi actress and director, known for Ei Shob Din Ratri (1985), Eka Eka (1985), and Bohubrihi (1988). She started her acting career in the late 1980s, and after she took a long break from acting in 1997.

Faruque Ahmed is a playwright and actor in Bangladesh. He started his acting career by acting on stage while studying at the department of Geography and Environment of Jahangirnagar University. He was introduced across the country by playing a negative role called Rasik Lal in Baro rokom manus broadcast on Bangladesh Television. He was a regular face of popular playwright and writer Humayun Ahmed's drama.

"Ekta Chilo Sonar Konya" is a song from the 1999 Bangladeshi film Srabon Megher Din. The lyricist of this folk music was Humayun Ahmed. Subir Nandi sang this song to the tune with music arrangement of Maksud Jamil Mintu. The song is considered to be the most popular song used in the film. The song was released under label of Sangeeta Music along with other songs from the audio album. Mahfuz Ahmed lip-synced in the scene of this song in the film. Maksud Jamil Mintu and Subir Nandi won the National Film Award for music arrangement and vocals.
