Elections to North Ayrshire Council took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election was the first to use the nine wards created under the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, with 33 councillors being elected. Each ward – except Arran which returned one member – elected either three, four or five members, using the STV electoral system.
The 2022 Angus Council election took place on 5 May 2022, the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. Each ward elected three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system, a form of proportional representation used since the 2007 election and according to the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004.

Its southern boundary is mostly formed by the A78 road. It was unaffected by both a national boundary review prior to the 2017 local elections and a further re-organisation for the 2022 election in relation to the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018. In 2020, the ward's population was 17,237.
Ardrossan is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the North Ayrshire council. Created as Ardrossan and Arran in 2007, covering the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde and the coastal town of Ardrossan, it originally elected four councillors. A national boundary review prior to the 2017 local elections saw no difference in territory but one fewer seat.
