Dundee East is a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Created for the 1950 general election, it elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post voting system.
Dundee City Council is the local government authority for the City of Dundee. It was created in 1996 under the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994.
Elections to Angus Council were held on 3 May 2007 the same day as the other Scottish local government elections and the Scottish Parliament general election. The election was the first one using 8 new wards created as a result of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, each ward will elect three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system a form of proportional representation. The new wards replace 29 single-member wards which used the plurality system of election.
Angus South is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood) covering part of the council area of Angus. It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. In addition, it is one of ten constituencies in the North East Scotland electoral region, which elects seven additional members, in addition to the ten constituency MSPs, to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.

Elections to North Ayrshire Council took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election was the first to use the nine wards created under the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, with 33 councillors being elected. Each ward – except Arran which returned one member – elected either three, four or five members, using the STV electoral system.

Each ward elected three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system, a form of proportional representation used since the 2007 election and according to the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004.
Elections to South Ayrshire Council took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election used the eight wards created following the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland's fifth review, with 28 councillors elected. Each ward elected either three or four members, using the STV electoral system.
Elections to Argyll and Bute Council took place on 5 May 2022 on the same day as the 31 other Scottish local government elections. The election will use the 11 wards created under the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, with 36 councillors being elected. Each ward elected either 3 or 4 members, using the STV electoral system.
Kilwinning is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the North Ayrshire council. Created in 2007 to cover the town of Kilwinning, it elects four councillors. Its southern boundary is mostly formed by the A78 road. It was unaffected by both a national boundary review prior to the 2017 local elections and a further re-organisation for the 2022 election in relation to the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018. In 2020, the ward's population was 17,237.
Ardrossan is one of the nine wards used to elect members of the North Ayrshire council. Created as Ardrossan and Arran in 2007, covering the Isle of Arran in the Firth of Clyde and the coastal town of Ardrossan, it originally elected four councillors. A national boundary review prior to the 2017 local elections saw no difference in territory but one fewer seat.
