The Czech Republic national rugby sevens team is a minor national sevens side.

History

Their most notable achievement to date was in 2001, when they won the Bowl final of the Sri Lanka Sevens.

European Championship

The Czechs made their first European Championship appearance at Heidelberg in 2002, where they finished 11th out of a possible 12. In 2003, when the final tournament was again at Heidelberg, they finished 10th. The following year saw the tournament, which also doubled as qualifiers for the 2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens, at Palma de Majorca in Spain, with the team claiming the Shield after beating Poland 17-5. They haven't qualified for the Championship again since that particular tournament.

Extraliga ragby

The Extraliga rugby is a rugby club competition played in the Czech Republic and is the top level of rugby in the country. There is a promotion-relegation process between the Extraliga ragby and the Národní liga ragby. The league used to be known as KB Extraliga due to sponsorship by Komerční banka (KB) which lasted until the 2014/15 season.

The 2009–10 KB Extraliga competition was a Czech domestic rugby club competition operated by the Česká Rugbyová Unie (ČSRU). It began on August 29, 2009 with a match between Tatra Smíchov and Petrovice at the Stadion ragby Císařka in Prague, and continued through to the final at the Synot Tip Arena on June 19, 2010.

The 2008 KB Extraliga Competition was a Czech domestic rugby club competition, operated by the Česká Rugbyová Unie (ČSRU). It began on August 16, 2008 with a match between Tatra Smíchov and Petrovice at the Stadion ragby Císařka in Prague, and ended with the final on November of that year with Tatra Smíchov beating Říčany 17-9 played on Synot Tip Arena in Prague.

The 2016–17 Rugby Europe International Championships is the European Championship for tier 2 and tier 3 rugby union nations. The 2016–17 season is the first of its new format and structure, where all Levels play on a one-year cycle, replacing the old format of a two-year cycle, where the teams played each other both home and away.

Antonín Brabec is a former Czech rugby union player and the current rugby coach. He is nicknamed "Tony". His position on the field is on the centre or the fly half.
