Solomon Islands national rugby sevens team is a national sporting side that represents the Solomon Islands in rugby sevens. They participate in the Pacific Games and regional tournaments.

History

The Solomon Islands finished in seventh place in the 2011 Pacific Games defeating Tokelau 33–7.

They competed at the 2023 Oceania Sevens Championship in Brisbane, they ranked sixth overall after their defeat to Tonga in the fifth place playoff. [1]

At the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, the Solomon Islands won their opening pool games against Tahiti, and Wallis and Futuna. [2] They were later thrashed by Fiji and knocked out off the Championship quarterfinals. [3]

The Solomon Islands women's national sevens team is Solomon Islands national representative in Rugby sevens. They participated in the 2012 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship in Fiji. At the 2019 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship in Fiji, they finished in sixth place.

Rugby sevens at the Pacific Games was played for the first time at the 1999 South Pacific Games with only the men's tournament. The women's tournament was contested for the first time at the 2011 Pacific Games. The champions for the inaugural rugby sevens tournament in 1999 were Fiji for the men and in 2011 were also Fiji for the women. Prior to 1999, 15-a-side matches were played between the 1963–1995 games.

The Nauru national rugby sevens team made its international debut at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The 2017 Oceania Sevens Championship was the tenth Oceania Sevens in men's rugby sevens. It was held at ANZ Stadium in Suva, Fiji on 10–11 November 2017. The tournament was won by Fiji who defeated New Zealand 26–0 in the final.

The 2023 Pacific Games, officially known as the XVII Pacific Games, was a continental multi-sport event for Oceania countries and territories held in Honiara, Solomon Islands between 19 November and 2 December 2023. This was the first time that the Solomon Islands have hosted the Pacific Games.

Rugby sevens at the 2023 Pacific Games will be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands from 23 to 25 November 2023. The rugby sevens competition will take place at the Solomon Islands National Stadium. This will be the seventh time that the men's competition will be held, following rugby sevens's debut at the 1999 Games, with women's rugby sevens making its fourth appearance since 2011. A total of thirteen men's and eight women's teams are scheduled to compete in each respective tournament.
