Gombe State is a state in northeastern Nigeria, bordered to the north and northeast by the states of Borno for 93 km in the vicinity of Gongola River and Lake Dadin Kowa and Yobe in the vicinity of Gongola River for 140 km, to the south by Taraba State for 58 km, to the southeast by Adamawa State for 95 km, and to the west by Bauchi State for 277 km. Gombe is the state capital of Gombe state and it was formed from a part of Bauchi State on 1 October 1996. Of the 36 states in Nigeria, Gombe is the 21st largest in area and the 32nd most populous, with an estimated population of about 3.25 million as of 2016. The state bears a slogan "Jewel in the Savannah".
Bauchi State is a state in the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, bordered by Jigawa to the north, Yobe to the northeast, Gombe to the east, Taraba and Plateau to the south, Kaduna to the west and Kano to the northwest. It takes its name from the historic town of Bauchi, which also serves as its capital city. The state was formed in 1976 when the former North-Eastern State was broken up. It originally included the area that is now Gombe State, which became a distinct state in 1996.

Bajoga is a town and headquarters of Funakaye, a local government area located in the northern part of Gombe State, Nigeria. Bajoga is 9 km south of the Ashaka cement factory.

Dukku is a Local Government Area in Gombe State, Nigeria. Its headquarters is located in Dukku town. The Gongola River flows through the west and north of the LGA. It has an area of 3,815 km2 and a population of 207,190 from the 2006 census. The vast majority of the population are Muslims, but there is a Christian minority. The major ethnic group is Fulani with Fulfulde being spoken as a major language alongside Bole while Hausa, Kanuri, and Kare-Kare are also spoken.

Nafada is one of the eleven Local Government Areas (LGA) of Gombe State, Nigeria. Its headquarter is in the town of Nafada in the east of the area at 11°05′44″N11°19′58″E, on the Gongola River which traverses the area. According to the 2006 census, the LGA covers 1,586 square kilometers and has a population of 138,185 people. Nafada has ten wards namely: Nafada East, Nafada Central, Nafada West, Jigawa, Birnin Fulani East, Birnin Bolewa, Birnin Fulani West, Gudukku, Barwo/Nasarawo and Barwo Winde.
TheGombe Emirate is a traditional state in Nigeria that roughly corresponds in area to the modern Gombe State.The current Emir of Gombe is Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, who acceded on 6 June 2014. The late Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Usman Abubakar, who precedes his father Abubakar II had been Emir since August 1984.

Aishatu Jibril Dukku, is a Nigerian educationist and politician from Gombe State. She was a former Principal of Federal Government Girl's College, Bajoga, Gombe State. She served as Federal Minister of State for Education during the presidency of the late Umaru Musa Yar' Adua. Since then, she has served as two terms member of the Nigerian National Assembly. She served in the 8th and 9th Assemblies of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Dukku and Nafada Federal constituency, Gombe State, Nigeria. She was the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral and Political Parties. She was defeated in the 2023 House of Representatives elections in her reelection bid.
The Gombe State House of Assembly is the legislative arm of the government of Gombe State of Nigeria. It is a unicameral legislature with 24 members elected from the 11 local government areas of the state delineated into 24 state constituencies. Local government areas with considerably larger populations are delineated into two constituencies to give equal representation. This makes the number of legislators in the Gombe State House of Assembly 24.
The 2019 Gombe State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on 9 March 2019, the APC nominee Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya won the election, defeating Usman Bayero Nafada of the PDP. Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 859 votes and defeating his closest rival, Mohammed Jibrin Barde who received 463 votes. He picked Manasseh Daniel Jatau as his running mate.
The 2023 Gombe State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Gombe State, concurrent with elections to the Gombe State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya is running for a second term and was renominated by his party.

Mbormi Battle Ground is an historical site near Nafada in Gombe State, Nigeria. It is the site of a 1903 battle in which Muhammadu Attahiru I, the Sultan of the Sokoto Caliphate, was killed alongside many of his people. The site embodies the fight and resistance against colonial rule. Three tombs lie on the battle ground, and the site attracts many visitors.
Gombe-Abba was established by Modibbo Buba yero, the student of Usman Dan Fodiyo, after the 1804 Jihad war. It is located about a kilometre off the Gombe - Kano highway, near a river and on a hilly area. Gombe Abba is the first capital of Gombe Emirate and inextricable part of Gombe history.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Gombe State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Gombe State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
The 2023 Nigerian presidential election in Gombe State was held on 25 February 2023 as part of the nationwide 2023 Nigerian presidential election to elect the president and vice president of Nigeria. Other federal elections, including elections to the House of Representatives and the Senate, will also be held on the same date while state elections will be held two weeks afterward on 11 March.
