The Hongqi L5 is a large retro styled full size luxury car produced by Hongqi since 2014, whose design was inspired by the discontinued Hongqi CA770. [1] The L5 serves as Hongqi's current flagship vehicle for the Chinese automotive market.

Released in 2013 at the Shanghai Auto Show, the L5 is renowned for currently being the most expensive Chinese-made car ever available for purchase, at CN¥5 million Renminbi (US$800,000 UK£580,000). [4] [5] It is the official state car of China, as it is used by President Xi Jinping. [6] The sedan is currently offered only in China.
A handful of first generation L5s have been exported to Belarus via donations, where they are used by the Belarusian military as a parade car, first being debuted at the 2015 Minsk Victory Day Parade. [7]
In 2016 Hongqi announced a V8 version of the L5, powered by a 4 litre twin-turbo V8 producing 381 horsepower with an eight-speed automatic. The 6 litre V12 model is designated as CA7600 and the V8 version as CA7400. The CA7400 was released in 2017.
The L5 has three variants: the civilian, official state car and parade car. It has a length of 5.555m, five being a lucky number in Chinese culture. [8]

In April 2023, the second generation Hongqi L5 was revealed on the Auto Shanghai 2023. [9]
The second generation L5 features a dual-color body design, measures 5980/2090/1710mm in dimension, with a wheelbase of 3730mm, which is significantly larger than previous generation. It is equipped with a V8 4.0-liter turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum power of 285 kW (382 hp; 387 PS). [10]
In November 2023, the Hongqi officially announced on Weibo that the car would be delivered in 2024. [11]

The Hongqi CA770 is a limousine produced by FAW Hongqi as the successor to the Hongqi CA72. The CA770 remained in production from 1966 until 1981 albeit in limited numbers. Built on a platform based on the Chrysler Imperial, around 1,600 of these V8-engined Hongqis were built in total, and over the years various versions were released including a 1965 long-wheelbase model with three rows of seats and a 1969 armored version (CA772). A pickup truck version was also produced, with three built. A funeral hearse version was planned, but never produced. The 770 series was powered by a 215 HP Chrysler 5.6 L V8 engine, although bodywork was penned by First Auto Works.
The Trumpchi GS5 is a compact crossover produced by GAC Group under the Trumpchi brand. The first generation was sold from 2011 to 2017 with a facelift variant called the GS5 Super launched in 2014, while the second generation model was sold starting in 2018. A facelift for the 2021 model year was launched during the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, changing the name to Trumpchi GS4 Plus.
