Hopewell is an unincorporated community in Copiah County, Mississippi, United States. Hopewell is located on the former Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. [2]

History

Hopewell was first founded by settlers who moved to the area when a new railroad depot was built east of Ruby. The community was named Hopewell by W. T. Sandifer, Daniel Young, and a Mr. Barron. [3]

Hopewell was home to a pharmacist in 1916. [4]

A post office operated under the name Hopewell from 1908 to 1956. [5]

Copiah–Lincoln Community College (Co–Lin) is a public community college with its main campus in Wesson, Mississippi. Carpenter Schools

Built in the early 20th century, Carpenter School No. 1 and Carpenter School No. 2, in Natchez, Mississippi, were two of three buildings built and donated to the city by the city's philanthropic Carpenter family for public schools in Natchez. Besides the three schools, the family built and then donated many other structures to the city, and the Natchez-Adams School District and George W. Armstrong Public Library still benefit from a Carpenter trust fund.
