Perlis, also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan, is a state of Malaysia in the northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It is the smallest state in Malaysia by means of area and population, as well as the northernmost in the country. The state borders the Thai provinces of Satun and Songkhla to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. Perlis is the only Malaysian state that is not divided into any districts, due to its small size, but it is still divided into several communes. It was called Palit by the Siamese when it was under their influence. Perlis had a population of 227,025 as of the 2010 census.
Kedah, also known by its honorific Darul Aman and historically as Queda, is a state of Malaysia, located in the northwestern part of Peninsular Malaysia. The state covers a total area of over 9,000 km2, and it consists of the mainland and the Langkawi islands. The mainland has a relatively flat terrain, which is used to grow rice, while Langkawi is an archipelago, most of which are uninhabited islands.
Sungai Petani is a town in Kuala Muda District, Kedah, Malaysia. Sungai Petani is Kedah's largest city and is located about 55 km south of Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah, and 33 km northeast of George Town, the capital city of the neighbouring state of Penang.

Kedahan Malays or commonly known as Orang Utara ('Northerners'), are a sub-group of Malays native to northern Malay Peninsula in areas of both current and historical area of Kedah. They are among the oldest ethnic groups in the Malay peninsula with a history dating back 2,800 years as proven by the discovery of sites in Bujang Valley and historical documents from India, China and Arabia. Kedahan Malays are one of the largest Malay sub-groups in Malaysia, comprising at least 15% of the total Malaysian Malay population including those with Kedahan ancestry.

988 FM is a Malaysian Chinese-language radio station. Its broadcast area covers West Malaysia and Singapore. It is managed by Star Media Radio Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Media Group Berhad. 988 FM began broadcasting in 1996 as a trilingual radio station, with 50% Chinese content and became a fully-fledged radio station in December 1997. The station aims to relect and cater to the different Chinese-speaking cultures of Malaysia.

Radio Thailand Satun is a Thailand government radio station which is owned by the Public Relations Department. It broadcasts in Satun Province, parts of Trang Province, Songkhla Province and Phatthalung Province. It can be received in Malaysia in places such as Perlis, Langkawi, northern Kedah and Penang. Radio Thailand Satun broadcasts on two FM frequencies and one AM frequency with 1 kW and 10 kW transmitter power output respectively. It provides information, knowledge and entertainment to the listeners.

CITYPlus FM is a Chinese business radio station catered for primary Chinese-speaking PMEBs and SMEs in Malaysia. It is owned by Ooga X Sdn Bhd. The radio started its trial transmission in Kuching since 24 April 2016 on FM 92.5 MHz. Another trial transmission was aired in Seremban on FM 106.0 MHz by launching a transmitter in Gunung Telapak Buruk. On 2 May 2017, the radio was officially launched in the areas, meanwhile Kuching FM 92.5 MHz was rebranded as the third radio station. Its frequency for Klang Valley was formerly carried by Red FM before June 2009.
