There are a number of Iraqi beauty pageants. Miss Iraq is one of the national beauty pageants in Iraq. Others include Miss World Iraq and Miss Earth Iraq.

History

In 2015 the first season after 43 years absence, the official national beauty contest of Iraq recognized by Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities has been held in Baghdad. [1] The Miss Iraq titles set to be three categories which are Miss Iraq, Iraq's Maiden of Beauty and Mesopotamian Princess.

The pageant is organized by a group of civil activists, leaders from the beauty/fashion community and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism & Antiquities of Iraq. [2]

In 2016, Miss Iraq Organization sent Miss Mesopotamia 2015 winner Susan Amer Sulaimani (Noori), a Kurdish student in Baghdad to participate in the Miss Earth 2016 pageant as Iraq's first representative since 1972 in the Big Four international beauty pageants. [3] [4] She wore a dress instead of a bikini during the pageant's press conference. [3]

In the late 2010s, Miss Iraq returned and debuted to the several international beauty pageant, such as Miss Earth in 2016 and then Miss Universe in 2017. [5] [6]

Vian Sulaimani is an Iraqi beauty pageant titleholder who won the Miss Iraq 2017 but she was dethroned for being married.

Perla Helou (born 10 July 1995) is a Lebanese model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Lebanon in 2017. She participated in Miss World 2017 on November 18 in Sanya, China where she placed 7th in People's Choice, 4th in Multimedia and in the Top 40 overall among the 118 contestants. She also won the head to head challenge of her group.

Miss Iraq in America was an annual beauty pageant, first held in 2013. The competition was supervised by Yalla Fan, an artistic production company founded by Iraqi Assyrian Joe Rasho. Contestants were required to be unmarried women of Iraqi descent residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 27.

Tia Alkerdi is a Syrian model and beauty pageant titleholder.

Maria Farhad is an Iraqi model and beauty pageant titleholder who was named Miss Iraq 2021. She represented Iraq at the Miss World 2022 pageant in Puerto Rico.

Miss Sulaymaniyah is part of an official national beauty pageant of Iraq and the only pageant recognized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Iraq. The contest will be held annually in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.

Miss Lebanon 2022, was the 61st edition of the Miss Lebanon pageant, held on July 24, 2022, at Forum de Beyrouth in Beirut, Maya Reaidy crowned her successor Yasmina Zaytoun at the end of the event. Maya Aboul Hosn, who finished as first runner-up, was appointed Miss Universe Lebanon 2023 the following year.

Yasmina Ismail Zaytoun is a Lebanese beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Lebanon 2022. She represented Lebanon at Miss Universe 2022 and Miss World 2023. She is the runner-up of Miss World 2023.

Laith Shubbar is an Iraqi academic and politician. He was an advisor of the Iraqi Prime Minister and opposed to quotas and sectarianism. He earned his doctorate in 1999 and has held many political and media positions.
