History

1995–1999

The Miss Universe Zambia headquartered in Lusaka and created first winning pageant, Luo Punobantu of Lusaka to Miss Universe 1995 in Windhoek, Namibia. This period the Miss Zambia organizer had only contributed in 1995 and 1999 editions of Miss Universe. Between in 1996 and 1998 due to uncertain franchise holder and lack financial to send a delegate to Miss Universe, former organizer did not participate in Miss Universe.

2005–2010

The Miss Universe Zambia took over by Mrs. Wendy Chandra-Fornari in Lusaka. The Miss Universe Zambia winners mostly achieved high placement in another beauty competitions such as Miss Tourism Queen International and Miss Africa International. On May 28, 2010, the last Miss Universe Zambia under Mrs. Wendy was Alice Rowlands Musukwa of Chipata. She represented Zambia in Miss Universe 2010 edition in Las Vegas, USA. [1]

2017–present

In 2017, former Miss Universe Zambia 2010 Alice Rowlands took over The Miss Universe Zambia franchise.

The Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in one of the Big Four international beauty pageants Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in Sub-major international pageant Miss Supranational. The Miss South Africa organisation resorted to a contemporary format in selecting representatives which was inaugurated in 2018. Following their newer method, both a Miss World South Africa and a Miss Universe South Africa were selected as representatives. Mireia Lalaguna of Spain crowned her successor Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico at the end of the event. It was the second time that the Miss World pageant held in the United States. It was the second time where Puerto Rico won Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced in 1975.

Alice Rowland Musukwa is a Zambian businesswoman, model, and beauty pageant titleholder. In 2010, she won the Miss Universe Zambia competition and was the country's representative at the Miss Universe the same year. She is also the current pageant national director of Miss Universe Zambia and Miss Teen Zambia. She is also the first ever black model to have walked Pakistan fashion week.
