Jay Cassidy is an American film editor with dozens of credits since 1978.
Cassidy began his career in the 1970s working on documentaries and political advertising. [1] He has had a notable collaboration with Sean Penn, having edited all of the films directed by Penn. Early in his career, Cassidy edited the documentary film High Schools (1983) that was directed by Charles Guggenheim; more recently he has edited several documentaries by Guggenheim's son Davis Guggenheim, including An Inconvenient Truth (2006).
Cassidy was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing and for an ACE Eddie Award for Into the Wild (directed by Sean Penn - 2007). In 2012, he was nominated for his second Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Silver Linings Playbook , which won the Eddie and the Satellite Award for Best Editing. [2] Cassidy was nominated for a third Academy Award for American Hustle (directed by David O. Russell - 2013), and again won the Eddie for that film. He had won the Eddie for Best Documentary Editing for An Inconvenient Truth (directed by Davis Guggenheim - 2006). Both High Schools and An Inconvenient Truth were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and An Inconvenient Truth won the award.
Cassidy has been elected to membership in the American Cinema Editors. [3]
Cassidy received a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan circa 1972 and was a photographer for The Michigan Daily and the Michiganensian on campus. [4] [5] In 2006, Cassidy won the 39th Cartoon Caption Contest of The New Yorker magazine. [6]
The Best of May, 1968, a short film directed by Cassidy in 1972, was preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2019. [7]

Philip Davis Guggenheim is an American screenwriter, director, and producer.
Stephen Mirrione is an American film editor. He is best known for winning an Academy Award for his editing of the film Traffic (2000).
Bob Murawski is an American film editor. He was awarded the 2010 Academy Award for Best Film Editing for his work on The Hurt Locker, which he shared with his wife, fellow editor Chris Innis. He often works with film director Sam Raimi, having edited the Spider-Man trilogy, Oz the Great and Powerful, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Murawski is an elected member of the American Cinema Editors, and is the co-founder of Grindhouse Releasing, an acclaimed film distribution company specializing in re-releases of cult films.
Craig McKay is an American feature film editor, story consultant, director, and executive producer. Recognized with two Academy Award nominations for editing Reds and The Silence of the Lambs, and an Emmy Award for editing the NBC miniseries Holocaust, he has edited more than forty films including Philadelphia, The Manchurian Candidate, Cop Land and Maid in Manhattan.

Roberts has a master's degree in documentary film production from Stanford University (1996). Her first credit as an editor was for Long Night's Journey into Day (2000), which was directed by Deborah Hoffmann and Frances Reid and that was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. She was credited as both an editor and writer for Great Wall Across the Yangtze (2000), which was directed by Ellen Perry. Her work since then and several of her honors are sketched in the filmography below. Roberts was featured in a New York Times article on film editing in 2012. She has been selected for membership in the American Cinema Editors, which entitles editors to append "A.C.E." to their film credits.
Michael Chandler is an American producer, director, writer and editor of feature and documentary films. He produced and directed, with Sheila Canavan, the feature documentary Compared to What? The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank, a Showtime Networks Broadcast Premier and official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival; the PBS Independent Lens feature documentary Knee Deep which one reviewer called, “one of the year's best 'believe it or not' documentaries, a rural Rashomon and a compelling cinematic experience;” and produced & directed Forgotten Fires, a PBS documentary which investigated the burning by Ku Klux Klansmen of Black churches. Bill Moyers said about it: "If we wanted a real dialog about race in America, we'd start with this film." Chandler also produced & directed investigative documentaries for the PBS series Frontline, including Blackout, a collaboration with The New York Times, The Future of War, and Secrets of the SAT.
