The 2012 police and crime commissioner elections were polls held in most police areas in England and Wales on Thursday 15 November. Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021,on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections,with Wales having much higher turnout mainly due to the simultaneous Senedd election held across Wales,whereas only parts of England had simultaneous local elections.

The 2024 North East mayoral election was held on 2 May 2024 to elect the first mayor of the North East,a role created under the North East devolution deal announced in 2022. The election took place the same day as council elections within the region,as well as local elections across England and Wales.
Susan Dungworth is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner since May 2024,when she succeeded Kim McGuinness. She was a councillor until 2021,when she lost her seat.
