Lake Marvin is a reservoir in Floyd County, in the U.S. state of Georgia. [1] The lake was named for Marvin Muze, the original landowner. [3]

Description

Lake Marvin is located in northern Floyd County in a basin known as The Pocket. The lake is situated between Horn Mountain and Mill Mountain, two ridges in the Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians. Calhoun is located about 8 miles (13 km) to the southeast, while Rome is located 20 miles to the south-southwest. [4] The lake is surrounded by the Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area and the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. [2]

The reservoir was created by the completion of Lake Marvin Dam on Pocket Creek. [4] The lake has an area of 90 acres and a surface elevation of 902 feet (275 m). [1] [2] The Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council owns the reservoir. [2]

The lake is home to redear sunfish, bluegill, and largemouth bass. [5]

Lake Marvin was not open to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Feather River

The Feather River is the principal tributary of the Sacramento River, in the Sacramento Valley of Northern California. The river's main stem is about 73 miles (117 km) long. Its length to its most distant headwater tributary is just over 210 miles (340 km). The main stem Feather River begins in Lake Oroville, where its four long tributary forks join together—the South Fork, Middle Fork, North Fork, and West Branch Feather Rivers. These and other tributaries drain part of the northern Sierra Nevada, and the extreme southern Cascades, as well as a small portion of the Sacramento Valley. The total drainage basin is about 6,200 square miles (16,000 km2), with approximately 3,604 square miles (9,330 km2) above Lake Oroville.

Piru Creek

Piru Creek is a major stream, about 71 miles (114 km) long, in northern Los Angeles County and eastern Ventura County, California. It is a tributary of the Santa Clara River, the largest stream system in Southern California that is still relatively natural.

Soque River

The Soque River and its watershed are located entirely within the county boundaries of Habersham County in northeast Georgia. The Soque is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River. Portions of the river run along State Route 197.

Pine Log Mountain Mountain in United States of America

Pine Log Mountain is located in the U.S state of Georgia with a summit elevation of 2,338 feet (713 m). The peak is three miles west of the town of Waleska separated only by the gated community of Lake Arrowhead. The summit falls within Cherokee County, although the majority of the mountain range trails into Bartow County including other peaks of Little Pine Log Mountain, Bear Mountain and Hanging Mountain. Pine Log and these other summits within its range are the last mountains over 2,000 feet (600 m) in the Appalachians of north Georgia. Pigeon Mountain (Georgia) Mountain in the US State of Georgia

Pigeon Mountain is a summit in Walker County, Georgia. At its highest point, the mountain has an elevation of around 2,330 feet (710 m). Ellison's Cave and Petty John's Cave are located on the mountain. Most of the mountain is located inside the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area.
