The following is a list of Proton vehicles, including past, present, and concept nameplates.

Contents

Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional (Proton) was established in May 1983 [1] through a joint-venture between The Heavy Industries Corporation Of Malaysia (HICOM) and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC). [2]

Proton produced its first car, the Saga in July 1985, [3] and its first indigenously designed car, the Waja in May 2000. [4] Since the 2000s, Proton has produced a mix of indigenously designed and rebadged models.

The Exora is the first Proton based on the P2 platform. Its facelift revision, which debuted on December 15, 2011, became the first Proton to use the CamPro CFE turbocharged engine and CVT technology.

The Toyota Aqua is a full hybrid electric subcompact/supermini hatchback (B-segment) manufactured and marketed by Toyota since 2011. The nameplate is exclusive to the Japanese domestic market, as the vehicle was exported to overseas markets as the Prius c, leveraging the popularity of the Prius hybrid car nameplate and marketed as the smaller alternative to the Prius liftback.

The Suzuki Ertiga is a series of multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) manufactured by the Japanese carmaker Suzuki since the year 2012. The first-generation model is heavily based on the Swift while the second-generation model introduced in 2018 is made larger and based on the HEARTECT platform. A crossover-styled version was introduced in 2019 as a separate model called the Suzuki XL6 in India and Suzuki XL7 for worldwide markets. The largest markets for the Ertiga are India and Indonesia, where the model is mainly manufactured. The first generation Proton Saga was the first automobile produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer, Proton. It was based on the 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore as a result of a joint venture between HICOM and Mitsubishi. The Proton Saga was officially launched on 9 July 1985 by ex-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad. It was produced in both 4-door saloon and 5-door hatchback styles.

The second generation Proton Saga is a 4-door subcompact sedan produced by Malaysian car manufacturer Proton which launched on 18 January 2008. It succeeds the first generation Proton Saga as the company's flagship model. The second generation Proton Saga is based on a stretched Proton Savvy platform and was developed in-house by Proton with technical support from Lotus Cars and LG CNS.

The second generation Proton Perdana is a mid-sized four-door saloon from Malaysian automobile manufacturer, Proton. It was unveiled on 11 December 2013 as the successor to the original Proton Perdana. The second generation Perdana is a badge engineered version of the eighth generation Honda Accord.

The Proton Iriz is a supermini (B-segment) produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton since 2014. It was unveiled on 25 September 2014 at Proton City by the fourth and seventh Malaysia's prime minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The Iriz platform is also used by its sedan equivalent, the Persona (BH) which was introduced in 2016.

The automotive industry in Malaysia consists of 27 vehicle producers and over 640 component manufacturers. The Malaysian automotive industry is the third largest in Southeast Asia, and the 23rd largest in the world, with an annual production output of over 500,000 vehicles. The automotive industry contributes 4% or RM 40 billion to Malaysia's GDP, and employs a workforce of over 700,000 throughout a nationwide ecosystem.

The Proton Persona (CM) is a C-segment saloon produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. The CM series represents the second generation in the Proton Persona lineage, and the first Proton model to use the 'Persona' nameplate in its home market. It was unveiled on 15 August 2007 as the successor to the Proton Wira in Malaysia, and the C90 Persona in its export markets.

The third generation Proton Saga, codenamed P2-13A is an A-segment saloon engineered by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. It was launched on 28 September 2016 as the successor to the second generation Proton Saga.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Proton X70</span> SUV made by Proton

The Proton X70 is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Malaysian car maker Proton. Marketed as a C-segment SUV, the car was launched on 12 December 2018, unveiled in a ceremony by then-prime minister and former Proton chairman Mahathir Mohamad. Being the first SUV released by Proton, it is conceived by rebadging the Geely Boyue, following the acquisition of Proton by Geely Automobile Holdings in 2017. The X70 is distinguishable from the Boyue by some design element differences and its right-hand drive configuration.
