List of television stations in Malaysia

Television broadcasting in Malaysia is provided by the federal government and respective private broadcasting companies. The government is committed to provide digital television to every Malaysian's household by end-2015 under DTTV (Digital Terrestrial Television) Project which is a part of national agenda by Ministry of Communications and Digital and managed by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). [1] The analogue transmissions were completely turned off on 31 October 2019 and switched to full myFreeview Digital TV broadcast using DVB-T2 technology. [2] The switchover was done in stages by territory which begun in all peninsular states starting from the central and southern on 30 September 2019, north and east on 14 October 2019 and Sabah and Sarawak on 31 October 2019. [3] The digital TV transmissions' Service Level Availability (SLA) currently stood at 99.9% coverage rate. [4]

The first trial broadcasts of digital TV started in 2006 by government-owned Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). Some local TV channels already are broadcasting shows in HD for special occasions since 2008. Free-to-air and subscription-based television channels in Malaysia are available in HD standards through terrestrial, satellite and IP, as well as over OTT platform.

Currently there are only two free-to-air digital terrestrial platform with high-definition digital television channels in Malaysia, named as myFreeview and NJOI.

Featuring a mix of comedies and drama series, the channel's programming targeted adults from 18 to 35 years old.

Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific have since rebranded some of the network's international feeds in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Southeast Asia as Fox Movies, but retains the Star Movies brand in Middle East & South Asia.

Star Chinese Movies was a Chinese language pay television channel owned by Disney Networks Group Pacific Ltd. It features Chinese films.

Animax is a pay television channel in Asia. It is the first television channel in Asia dedicated to anime, and was initially launched in Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia in January 2004. Formerly owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment, the channel was sold to KC Global Media Asia on January 1, 2020.

BBC Entertainment was an international television channel that broadcast comedy, drama, light entertainment, reality and children's programming from the BBC, Channel 4 and other UK production houses. The channel broadcast regional versions to suit local demands and replaced BBC Prime in a gradual rollout from 2006 to 2009. It was wholly owned by BBC Studios.

The channel first launched in 2003 in Israel and in 2005 in the United Kingdom. BabyTV is distributed in over 100 countries, broadcasting in 18 languages. The channel broadcasts shows without television commercial interruptions. In the United States, the channel is distributed by Disney General Entertainment Content.

Diva was an English-language pay television channel in Singapore. It launched on 3 May 1995 as Hallmark Entertainment Network, along with E!, and was first owned by Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS). In 2010, as part of an agreement with NBCUniversal International Networks, the channel was renamed Diva Universal in 2010 and then Diva in 2014. It closed at the end of 2019 in anticipation of the launch of the streaming service Hayu in the region.

Fox Crime was a Southeast Asian pay television channel, owned by Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Disney International Operations. The channel focuses on crime and investigation series programs. In India, Fox Crime Asia was replaced with its Indian counterpart in September 2012. Fox Crime India was shut down in July 2015 due to low ratings.

Aimed mainly at children between ages 2 to 7 years old. its programming consisted of original first-run television series and theatrically released and made-for-DVD movies, as well as other select third-party programming, some of which originally having aired on PBS Kids in the United States.

Fox Sports Asia was a pan-Asian pay television network broadcasting in Asia, operated by Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company Pte. Ltd. It also oversaw a version of Star Sports available in Mainland China and South Korea. Originally launched in early 1990s as Star Sports and ESPN by Satellite Television Asian Region and ESPN International respectively, both parties agreed to combine their operations in Asia in October 1996. News Corporation took the full control of the venture in 2012, and relaunched the channels in two phases in January 2013 and August 2014, respectively.

Unifi TV is an IPTV service operated by unifi. It was launched in 2010 as part of Unifi's bundled Triple-play service offering of VoIP Telephone, Internet and IPTV called Unifi TV.

HyppSports is an in-house IPTV network in Malaysia dedicated to broadcasting sports-related content 24 hours a day. It is available exclusively on unifi TV via Channel 701 (HD) to subscribers of either stand-alone channel pack, Ultimate Pack, or any of the ethnic-curated packs.
