Local World Holdings Ltd. was a large regional newspaper publisher in the UK that published around 100 print titles and more than 70 websites. It was formed in 2012 by David Montgomery, a former chief executive of Trinity Mirror, to buy the Daily Mail and General Trust's Northcliffe Media business, and the Yattendon Group's Iliffe newspaper group. In October 2015 Trinity Mirror, now Reach plc, bought the company. [2] The sale was completed on 13 November 2015. [3] In April 2017 the Local World website started redirecting to the Trinity Mirror website. [4]

History

Local World was established in 2012 by David Montgomery, in order to purchase local newspaper businesses.

In November 2012, it was announced that it would purchase Northcliffe Media from Daily Mail and General Trust, and separately, the Iliffe newspaper group from the Yattendon Group. [1] The purchase of the businesses was approved by the Office of Fair Trading on 28 June 2013. [5]

In September 2015, Daily Mail and General Trust confirmed it had entered into talks to sell Local World to Trinity Mirror; [6] the sale was completed the following month. [7]

Johnston Press plc was a multimedia company founded in Falkirk, Scotland, in 1767. Its flagship titles included UK-national newspaper the i, The Scotsman, the Yorkshire Post, the Falkirk Herald, and Belfast's The News Letter. The company was operating around 200 newspapers and associated websites around the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man when it went into administration and was the purchased by JPIMedia in 2018. The Falkirk Herald was the company's first acquisition in 1846. Johnston Press's assets were transferred to JPIMedia in 2018, who continued to publish its titles.

<i>Northampton Herald & Post</i> Former British newspaper

The Northants Herald & Post was a local weekly newspaper distributed free of charge in Northampton, England, and the surrounding towns and villages. The distribution also included the town of Towcester following the closure of local paid-for newspapers. It was closed by owners Trinity Mirror in December 2016.

Northcliffe Media Ltd. was a large regional newspaper publisher in the UK and Central and Eastern Europe, owned by Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT). In 2012, the company was sold by DMGT to a newly formed company, Local World, which also bought Iliffe News and Media from the Yattendon Group. In October 2015, Trinity Mirror bought Local World.

JPIMedia Multimedia company

JPIMedia is a multimedia company purchased by National World plc in January 2021. JPIMedia Publishing Ltd was founded in 2018, following the acquisition of Johnston Press assets by its creditors.
