Moolamattom Varkey Pylee (5 October 1919 - 30 December 2017) was an Indian scholar, educationist and management guru, considered by many as the father of management education in Kerala [1] and an authority on Constitutional Law. He was awarded Padmabhushan in 2006 by Government of India for his contributions to the fields of education and management. [2] [3]

Biography

M. V. Pylee was born in Pulinkunnoo on 5 October 1919. [4]

His wife, Elsie Pylee, died in 2004. [5] An award has been instituted by Cochin University of Science and Technology, the M. V. Pylee Award, given once in three years, carrying a cash prize of Rs 200,000, a memento and citation for excellence in teaching and research and contribution to academic community. [6]

Cochin University of Science and Technology, St. Berchman's College, Changanacherry, St. Joseph's School Pulimkunnu, St. Agnus College, Mangalore, Kerala Higher Education Trust, Good Samaritan project, India and others have benefitted from the Trust endowments. [7]

Menacherry Poulose Paul (1904–1952) was an academic, educationist, scholar and literary critic of Malayalam. Considered by many as one of the major literary critics of Malayalam literature, Paul inaugurated comparative literature in Malayalam through his works, Novel Sahithyam and Cherukatha Prasthanam. He was the founder of parallel college education system in Kerala, one of the major forces behind the Purogamana Sahitya Prasthanam and was the founder president of Sahithya Pravrthaka Sahakarana Sangham, the writers' cooperative movement.

St. Thomas' College (Autonomous), Thrissur, is a government aided college located in Thrissur, Kerala, India. It is founded by Mar Adolph Medlycott in 1889. It is the oldest college in the Erstwhile Princely State of Cochin and present day Thrissur district. It is the second private college to be recognised as a first-grade college under the University of Madras. It is the first Catholic college in Kerala and is conducted by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur.
The college is affiliated with the University of Calicut. Kurupassery Varkey Thomas, known sarcastically as Thirutha Thoma, is an Indian politician from Kumbalangi in Ernakulam district, Kerala, India. He was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Minister of State in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, 2nd UPA Government; a member of the Indian Parliament; and was a member of All India Congress Committee from 1984 to 2022. Ponkunnam Varkey was a writer and activist from Kerala, India. Varkey was one of the pioneers of the progressive writers' forum and literary writers' co-operative in Kerala. He was the president of Kerala Sahitya Akademi and Sahithya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society.
