Speedwell Ironworks was an ironworks in Speedwell Village, on Speedwell Avenue, just north of downtown Morristown, in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. At this site Alfred Vail and Samuel Morse first demonstrated their electric telegraph. Speedwell Ironworks also provided most of the machinery for the SS Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean. The site is still open to the public, and has seven buildings on display. The site, now named Historical Speedwell, is a historic site of the Morris County Park Commission. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974.
Samuel Sloan was a Philadelphia-based architect and best-selling author of architecture books in the mid-19th century. He specialized in Italianate villas and country houses, churches, and institutional buildings. His most famous building—the octagonal mansion "Longwood" in Natchez, Mississippi—is unfinished; construction was abandoned during the American Civil War.

The district includes 71 contributing buildings, such as the Oak Cottage, site of schoolhouse No. 5, Schooley's Mountain Store, the William W. Marsh House, Christadelphian Bible Camp, the former Heath House Hotel, former Forest Grove Hydropathic Institute, Mine Hill Farm, the Marsh Mine and several private residences and commercial buildings.

The district includes 72 contributing buildings that were deemed to be contributing to the historic character of the area, plus five contributing structures, nine contributing sites, and one contributing object. St. Peter's congregation has traditionally worshipped in the High Church tradition. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 19, 1993 for its significance in architecture, industry, religion, community development, politics/government, and commerce. The district includes 141 contributing buildings, a contributing structure, two contributing sites, and four contributing objects.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 28, 1995, for its significance in architecture, commerce, engineering, industry and exploration/settlement. The district includes 270 contributing buildings, one contributing structure, and three contributing sites. Five were previously listed on the NRHP individually: Dunham's Mill, M. C. Mulligan & Sons Quarry, Music Hall, Old Grandin Library, and Red Mill.

The Dr. Lewis Condict House is a historic house located at 51 South Street in Morristown of Morris County, New Jersey. Built in 1797, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 3, 1973, for its significance in architecture and health/medicine. In 1937, the Woman's Club of Morristown purchased the house for its headquarters. The house was added as a contributing property to the Morristown District on October 30, 1973.
