The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is a government organization in India that assesses and accredits Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). It is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission and headquartered in Bangalore. [2]

History

NAAC was established in 1994 in response to recommendations of National Policy in Education (1986). This policy was to "address the issues of deterioration in quality of education", and the Programme of Action (POA-1992) laid out strategic plans for the policies including the establishment of an independent national accreditation body. [3] [4] Consequently, the NAAC was established in 1994 with its headquarters at Bengaluru.

Grading

The NAACs grades institutes on an eight-grade ladder: [5]

As of June 2023, 820 universities and 15501 colleges were accredited by NAAC. [6]

Results

NAAC published a consolidated list of higher education institutions with valid accreditation as of 11 March 2020. [7] The outcome of the recent cycles of accreditation process is tabulated below.

Rajasthan has over 50 private, state and central government Universities which makes it one of the leading states in Indian higher education system. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council is leading system of quality system for higher educational institutions established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development under University Grants Commission (India). The NAAC accreditation is the official measure of Government of India for quality in education, course delivery, research in all fields including engineering, management, sciences, social sciences, pharmacy, hotel management. Through a rigorous process of inspections and peer review, the council gives scores out of 4 and calculates grades according to the score. Highest scoring university in Rajasthan by NAAC score is Banasthali Vidyapith. Banasthali Vidyapith was awarded A++ grade which is highest in Rajasthan. The list includes all universities in Rajasthan which have gone through the NAAC accreditation process. All of these universities have varying undergraduate programs like B.Tech, BBA, BCA, B.Pharmacy as well as postgraduate programs like M.Tech, MBA, MCA etc.

Anchal college is an undergraduate college under Odisha Government in the Bargarh District. This college was established in 1965. This university was earlier affiliated to Utkal University, after the establishment of Sambalpur University in 1966 it was later added to later one. This college provides education in Higher Secondary and Degree level in Arts, Science and Commerce.
