Rendezvous, known as "The RDV," is the flagship cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). Taking place from October 5 to October 8, 2023, this event transcends academia, attracting students from 1200+ colleges and welcoming a staggering 160,000+ attendees. It's a celebration of culture, art, and talent like no other, showcasing creativity and innovation at its finest.

Events

Rendezvous, in its every edition, hosts a large number of competitional and non-competitional events engaging a nationwide participation. Faces of RDV(formerly known as Mr. & Mrs. RDV), Fashion Show, Comedy Hunt, Blitzkrieg Beatbox Battle, Rap Battle, Chess Tournament, Lifestyle, Chef's Art, Meme Fest, Valorant Tournament, Deguise (a cosplay event), FIFA Tournament, BGMI Tournament, COD Tournament, Stratazenith, Film Festival are a few to name the mega flagship events. Apart from these, a variety of competitions, workshops and talk sessions are organised by the respective cultural clubs of IIT Delhi namely Dance Club, Debating Club, Design Club, Dramatics Club, Fine Arts and Crafts Club, Hindi Samiti, Literary Club, Music Club, Photography and Films Club, Spic Macay, Quizzing Club. Following each eventful day at Rendezvous, Pronite brings out artists from various cultures together on a stage. It has been the main star attraction of the festival with performing artists ranging from the famous Indian musical trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy [2] to the famous American Rock Band, Hoobastank, [3] having performed here. Dhoom, in the past has staged popular performances like Nucleya, Guru Randhawa and Sonu Nigam in 2023 earlier edition of March, Sunidhi Chauhan, Salim-Sulaiman and Benny Dayal in 2022, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Amit Trivedi and Ritviz in 2019 Javed Akhtar, [4] Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Medonsa, Javed Ali [5] in 2015, Falak Shabir and Arjit Singh [6] in 2014, Farhan Akhtar, [7] Hoobastank in 2013, Coke Studio@MTV (Papon, Shilpa Rao and Advaita Band) [8] in 2012; Rabbi Shergill, [9] Rohit Deshmukh, Kailash Kher, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan, Mohit Chauhan, KK [10] in 2010. The Pro-Show Spectrum has maintained the legacy of hosting star casts of popular Bollywood movies like Chakravyuh (Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpai, Esha Gupta) in 2012, Band Baaja Baaraat (Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh) [8] and Break Ke Baad (Deepika Padukone, Imran Khan) [11] in 2010. Blitzkrieg has staged several international headliner bands like Cypher16 in 2012, Textures in 2010, Malefice [12] in 2009, and Mindsnare in 2008; and Indian Rock Bands like Parikrama. [10]

Apart from competitions, some of the Indian top bands are also invited to perform. 2016 witnessed the presence of the Junkyard Groove and Spud in the Box. [13] These have been judged by prominent judges like Shiamak Davar [8] (Choreography Competition 2012) and Shahnaz Husain (Fashion Show 2015).

Influencer Program

The Influencer Program by Rendezvous IIT Delhi is designed to empower social media influencers of all follower counts and provide them with a platform to showcase their skills and gain recognition. Participants in this program have the opportunity to earn a range of benefits, from cash prizes and exciting goodies to exclusive callouts during Pronites. [14]

Campus Ambassador Program

The Campus Ambassador Program is an excellent opportunity for individuals to represent IIT Delhi on social media platforms. Rendezvous IIT Delhi has reintroduced its Campus Ambassador Program, offering a unique chance to enhance your marketing and publicity skills. By participating, you'll have the chance to earn internship certificates, letters of recommendation, discount vouchers, exciting merchandise, and even Pronite passes! [15]

Other Performances

Informal stages are set up on the streets of IIT Delhi to attract and engage with the passers-by. They host informal events throughout the four days of the festival. In the past, they have seen the presence of Bollywood personalities including Anushka Sharma, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Piyush Mishra. [16]

The commencement of the "RDV’s Got talent" has given students a platform to showcase their skills. [17]

Livestages are also put up near the main institute area of IIT Delhi, where professional artist from all across the nation showcase their talent in front of the crowd of RDV.

Breathless is the 1998 Indi-pop album by Indian singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan featuring lyricist Javed Akhtar. It was the album that first made Shankar Mahadevan famous. The title track, "Breathless," is a steady stream of a song that goes on without a break, stanzas, verse or apparently even a pause for breath. The length of the part of the song which is 'breathless' is about three minutes. Mahadevan made the album in collaboration with Akhtar, a reputed lyricist in the Indian music industry. Renu Desai was a model and appeared in the music video of Shankar Mahadevan's "Breathless". The album won the award for Best Non-film Album at the 1998 Screen Awards.

Unmaad is the annual cultural festival presented by Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. Conducted over a period of three days, Unmaad includes events like dramatics, music performances, dances, quizzes, debates, street plays, professional concerts and fashion show. The event has hosted performances by artists such as Amit Trivedi, Sunidhi Chauhan, Farhan Akhtar, Raghu Dixit, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Zakir Khan, KK, Kailash Kher, Lucky Ali, Strings, Jethro Tull and Indian Ocean.

"Main Aisa Kyun Hoon" is a single from the 2004 Indian film Lakshya composed by the trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, featuring lyrics by Javed Akhtar, vocals by Shaan and choreographed by Prabhu Deva.

<i>Zangoora</i> 2010 musical

Zangoora – The Gypsy Prince is the first Bollywood musical. It was premiered on 23 September 2010 at Nautanki Mahal of Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon. It has a cast of 110 members with Hussain Kuwajerwala, Gauahar Khan, Kashmira Irani and Sadanand Patil playing lead, supported by Arjun Fauzdar; besides crew of 250 people. In June 2013, the musical completed a run of 1000 shows, and became the longest running Bollywood stage show in India.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is the soundtrack album to Zoya Akhtar's 2011 Hindi film of the same name starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar. The film has seven songs and two remixes composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The album marks the second collaboration of the trio with Zoya Akhtar. The music was released on 17 June 2011 by T-Series.

"Señorita" (transl. Miss) is a song from the 2011 Indian film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. It was composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy and performed by Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Spanish singer María del Mar Fernández. The lyrics were penned by Javed Akhtar. The Latino-flavoured Spanish flamenco song is about being yourself and having fun.

Dil Chahta Hai is the soundtrack album to the 2001 Hindi film Dil Chahta Hai, directed by Farhan Akhtar, starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna. Since its release, the music has received widespread critical acclaim and is considered a milestone in the history of Bollywood film music. It was featured in the BBC Asian Network's Top 40 Soundtracks of All Time list and Planet Bollywood's 100 Greatest Bollywood Soundtracks list.

<i>Don</i> (soundtrack) 2006 soundtrack album by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy

Don is the soundtrack album to the 2006 Hindi film Don: The Chase Begins Again, directed by Farhan Akhtar, and starring Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani. The music was released on 26 August 2006, on T-Series. It was one of the best-selling Bollywood soundtracks of the year, with 1.5 million units sold in India.

"Kal Ho Naa Ho" is a Hindi-language film song performed by Sonu Nigam for the 2003 Indian romantic drama film of the same name. The track was composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, while lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar. In a pathos version, Nigam is joined by Alka Yagnik and Richa Sharma.

<i>Rock On!!</i> (soundtrack) 2008 soundtrack album by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy

Rock On!! is the soundtrack to the 2008 musical film of the same name directed by Abhishek Kapoor, starring Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli and Luke Kenny. The original score and songs were composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy. The songs' lyrics were written by Javed Akhtar.

Aaj Ki Raat (transl. Tonight!) is a 2006 Hindi song from the Bollywood film soundtrack for Don: The Chase Begins Again. The track is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy trio with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. The song became more popular internationally when later used by AR Rahman in the Academy Award-winning 2008 soundtrack Slumdog Millionaire.

"Mitwa" (transl.Friend) is a romantic Hindi-language song from the 2006 Hindi film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, directed by Karan Johar. The track is composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, while the lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar. The song was sung by Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and Caralisa Monteiro, who also penned the phrase "love will find a way..." in the song. The music video of the song featured actors Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji.

Darshan Doshi is an Indian drummer and composer, who is currently touring with Salim–Sulaiman, Farhan Akhtar, Adnan Sami, Diljit Dosanjh and Amit Trivedi. The Mirchi Music Award for Album of The Year is given yearly by Radio Mirchi as a part of its annual Mirchi Music Awards for Hindi films, to recognise the Best song of that year.

The Archies (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film) is the soundtrack to the 2023 teen musical comedy film The Archies directed by Zoya Akhtar. The soundtrack consisted of 16 songs composed by Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Ankur Tewari, The Islanders and Aditi "Dot" Saigal, with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar, Zoya, Shibani Akhtar, Tewari and Saigal. It was released by Sony Music India on 25 November 2023.
