Riduan bin Rubin is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tenom from November 2022. [1] He is a former member of the Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) and was a former member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party of Sabah (Sabah BERSATU), a former component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition and official component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) in national level. He is formerly one of the two KDM MPs along with Wetrom Bahanda and one of the two independent candidates who was elected in the 2022 general election along with Kudat MP Verdon Bahanda. He is also the son of Rubin Balang, the Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kemabong and the Vice President II of Sabah People's Ideas Party (Gagasan Rakyat).

2022 general election

In the 2022 general election, Riduan made his electoral debut after nominating himself to contest for the Tenom federal seat as an independent candidate. After that, he joined KDM temporarily in only 3 weeks before KDM joined coup d'etat with WARISAN and BN Sabah. [2] He won the seat and was elected into Parliament as the Tenom MP after defeating defending MP Noorita Sual of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Jamawi Ja'afar of the Barisan Nasional (BN), Ukim Buandi of the Heritage Party (WARISAN) and another independent candidate Peggy Chaw Zhi Ting by a majority of 1,108 votes. [3]

Datuk Darell Leiking, also known as Ignatius Dorell Leiking is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Moyog since September 2020. Datuk Zakaria bin Mohd. Edris is a Malaysian politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Libaran from May 2018 to November 2022, State Assistant Minister of Housing and Local Government of Sabah in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Chief Minister Musa Aman from 2013 to 2018 and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Gum-Gum from March 2004 to May 2018. He is a member of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GAGASAN), a component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition. He was a member of the WARISAN, before leaving the party on 8 October 2021 to become an independent in support of the ruling GRS coalition. He was also member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) which he left in 2018. On 22 May 2022, he confirmed that he had applied to rejoin and was pending return to BN and UMNO after leaving them four years ago. Datuk Peter Anthony is a Malaysian politician, singer and businessman who has served as the Member of Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Melalap since May 2018. Rubin bin Balang is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kemabong from February 1994 to May 2018 and again since September 2020. He is an official member and Vice President II of the Sabah People's Ideas Party which is a component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition. He is also the father of Riduan Rubin, the Independent Member of Parliament (MP) for Tenom.

Verdon bin Bahanda is a Malaysian politician, businessman and indigenous activist who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kudat since November 2022. He served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd from November 2020 to his resignation in December 2020. He was also the owner of the Sabah Football Club Sdn Bhd after its privatisation in November 2020 (Officially in 2021). He is presently the only independent MP, one of the two independent candidates who was elected in the 2022 general election along with Tenom MP Riduan Rubin who is a former member of the Social Democratic Harmony Party (KDM) and Verdon is the first independent Kudat MP in the Malaysian history. He is also the younger brother of Wetrom Bahanda, the Kota Marudu MP and Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bandau.
