Sant Ravidas Ghat is the southernmost and largest ghat in Varanasi. [1] To most visitors to Varanasi, it is known for being an important religious place for Ravidasis with a 25 acres park known as Sant Ravidas Smarak Park. [2] [3] [4]

History

Ravidas Ghat was announced for the creation in February 2008, [5] [6] during 2008 Golden Palki Shobha Yatra at Sant Ravidas temple on the saint's 631st birth [7] and inaugurated in 2009 by Chief Minister Mayawati. [8] [9]

Sant Ravidas Ghat is nearly 13 minutes drive from Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan, Varanasi. [10]

The place is well known for religious tourism by devotees of Guru Ravidas. [11]

Sant Ravidas Ghat is one of ghats often visited for recreation and during festivals like Dev Deepawali and Ganga Mahotsav. [12] [13]

There is a proposed helium balloon ride facility is at Sant Ravidas Ghat as a tourist attraction. [14]

The Dev Deepavali is the festival of Kartik Poornima celebrated in the city of Varanasi in Bhojpuri region of Uttar Pradesh, India. It falls on the full moon of the Hindu month of Kartika and takes place fifteen days after Diwali. The steps of all the ghats on the riverfront of the Ganges River, from Ravidas Ghat at the southern end to Rajghat, are lit with more than a million earthen lamps (diyas) in honour of Ganga, the Ganges, and its presiding goddess. Mythologically, the gods are believed to descend to Earth to bathe in the Ganges on this day. The festival is also observed as Tripura Purnima Snan. The tradition of lighting the lamps on the Dev Deepawali festival day was first started at the Dashashwamedh Ghat by Pandit Kishori Raman Dubey in 1991.

It is situated at village Kharali, Garhshanker, Hoshiarpur district. Khuralgarh Sahib is also called Charan Choh Ganga Sri Guru Ravidas Ji as this place was visited by Sri Guru Ravidas

Sir Gobardhan is a census town in Varanasi tehsil of Varanasi district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The census town & village falls under the Shir Goverdhanpur gram panchayat. Sir Gobardhan Census town & village is about 13 kilometers South of Varanasi railway station, 323 kilometers South-East of Lucknow and 3.5 kilometers South-East of Banaras Hindu University main gate. It is of historical significance as it is birthplace of Sant Sri Guru Ravidas. Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan at Seer Goverdhanpur is main pilgrimage place for Ravidasis worldwide.

Shri Guru Ravidas Gurughar, Tughlakabad is one of the important religious places of Ravidasi communities like Ad-Dharmis, Ramdasia Sikhs, Chamars, Jatavs, and Mochis. It is situated at Tughlakabad area of Delhi, India.

Chambhar is caste from Indian state of Maharashtra, and Northern Karnataka. Their traditional occupation was leather work. Historically subject to untouchability, they were traditionally outside the Hindu ritual ranking system of castes known as varna. Castes with similar traditional occupation are found throughout the Indian subcontinent such as Chamar in Northern india, and Mochi in Gujarat.
