Owosso is a city in Shiawassee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 15,194 at the 2010 census. The city is located on the eastern side of Owosso Township, but is politically independent. The city was named after Chief Wasso, an Ojibwa leader of the Shiawassee area.. Owosso is the largest city in Shiawassee County.
The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the United States federal government's official list of districts, sites, buildings, structures, and objects deemed worthy of preservation for their historical significance. A property listed in the National Register, or located within a National Register Historic District, may qualify for tax incentives derived from the total value of expenses incurred preserving the property.
Seldon S. Miner was an attorney, and was admitted to the Shiawassee County Bar in 1878. He established a legal practice in Owosso, and was soon doing great business. He additionally served on the Circuit Court Commission and later served as a County Judge. He invested profits from his legal practice into a number of the manufacturing firms being established at the time in Owosso, becoming something of businessperson and entrepreneur in addition to a lawyer. In about 1890, Miner constructed this simple house on King Street as a family residence. [2]
The Selden Miner House a wood-framed structure with clapboard siding. home for his family on West King Street. Although simple in detailing, the house shows Queen Anne influences, as in the asymmetrical massing and window placement. However, the box-lie proportions distinguish it from the typical Queen Anne residence. The facade's ornamentation is confined to a pediment above the front porch containing woven diamond carving, and decorative carving and fish-scale shingling in the gable ends. [2]
In the United States, Queen Anne-style architecture was popular from roughly 1880 to 1910. "Queen Anne" was one of a number of popular architectural styles to emerge during the Victorian era. Within the Victorian era timeline, Queen Anne style followed the Stick style and preceded the Richardsonian Romanesque and Shingle styles.

The Marks–Family House is a historic house on the eastern side of Delphos, Ohio, United States. Erected along Franklin Street in 1902, it is a one-and-one-half-story house built in the Queen Anne style of architecture. Among its features are a tower in the corner of the house, a large wraparound porch with Ionic columns, and leaded glass windows of many shapes and sizes. Nearly every element of the interior is original, including the woodworking, the floors, the doors, the fireplace, the carvings, and much of the furniture.

The last member of the McCormick family died in the house at 107 years of age. Edger Ingersoll incorporated features like the slate roof, crocheted roof ridging, hipped roof, scalloped trim, and more. It lies at 220 E. Exchange. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
