Roshek Brothers Department Store was a large retail store in downtown Dubuque, Iowa. The company was founded by J.J.and F.H. Roshek. In its prime, Roshek's was the primary shopping destination in Dubuque and was the largest department store in the state of Iowa. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It was the first commercial building in the Italianate style in New York City, and is considered the site of one of the nation's first department stores. 280 Broadway was designed by John B. Snook of Joseph Trench & Company, with later additions by other architects. It was built for the A. T. Stewart Company, which opened New York's first department store in it. It later housed the original New York Sun newspaper (1833–1950) and is now the central offices for the New York City Department of Buildings.
The Alms and Doepke Dry Goods Company is a historic commercial building in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States. Located along Central Parkway on the edge of downtown, it is a late Victorian structure designed by Samuel Hannaford, a renowned Cincinnati architect.

For a while, the store was claimed to be the largest department store west of Chicago. A description on one postcard from 1916 read: "The Largest Store in the Central West, 400 Feet long-Seven Acres Floor Area, 1,200 Employees, A $1,500,000 Stock, 15th to 16th on California Street Denver Colorado".

It was constructed in 1921 and composed of a single floor auditorium with balcony behind a three-story front section which included two storefronts. It was designed for stage shows as well as for movies. The theater was demolished in 1982.

United Carbon Building, also known as Boulevard Tower, Stanley Building, and Nelson Building, is a historic office building located at Charleston, West Virginia. It is a 12-story, steel-framed building sheathed in a smooth, unornamented shell of gold-colored brick, black steel and glass. Its slender volume rises 157 feet from the sidewalk to the twelfth-floor penthouse, which once served as the office of the building's prominent patron, Oscar Nelson (1879-1953). Mr. Nelson, president of the United Carbon Company, commissioned architect Walter F. Martens to design the structure. The building was commissioned in 1939 as the national headquarters for the United Carbon Company, which occupied the ninth through the twelfth floors until 1950.

McClellan's General Store is an historic structure located in New London, Iowa, United States. James and Adeline McClellan moved to Henry County in 1856. He bought the lot for $365 in 1867 and had the building built for a mercantile business that he founded the same year. It was the first building constructed in the simplified Italianate style in town He added dry goods to his store in 1875 and the business was renamed McClellan and Stottard Dry Goods Store at about the same time. The McClellan family used the second floor as their residence for several years The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

J.C. Berry's Dry Goods Store is a historic commercial building at 331 Old South Main Street in Yellville, Arkansas. It is a two-story block, built out of local limestone with pressed metal trim. The ground floor has a glass commercial store front, sheltered by a porch, and the second story has a bank of six windows, each flanked by a pair of Ionic pilasters. The roof has an extended overhang supported by brackets, and a highly decorated parapet. The metal elements of the facade were manufactured by the Mesker Brothers, a nationally known producer of metal architectural goods based in St. Louis, Missouri. The building was built in 1903 by J.C. Berry, and was operated as a dry goods business until 1912, when Berry's nephew Rex Floyd converted it for use as a hotel after his Park Hotel burned down. The hotel closed in 1952, and the building has seen a succession of mixed commercial and residential uses.
The Building at 101 North Riverview Street is a historic commercial building located in Bellevue, Iowa, United States. It is one of over 217 limestone structures in Jackson County from the mid-19th century, of which 20 are commercial buildings. The two-floor structure was built around 1850 along the levee. Because the property slopes toward the Mississippi River, it appears to be a four-story building on the riverside. It was built to house a retail establishment, but its original use has not been determined. By 1885 it housed a dry goods store, and by 1894 it housed a hardware store and implement dealership, which was located here for decades. The rectangular plan structure is three bays wide, and it has a stone storefront. It was given a light coating of stucco and scored giving it an ashlar appearance. The second-floor windows have simple hoodmolds above them, while the rest of the windows have stone lintels. What differentiates this building from the others is that it is a freestanding commercial structure, capped with a hip roof. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
