TRNSMT announced their cancellation on 24 April 2020, a day after the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said public events were likely to be banned "for some time to come".

The 2021 festival was rescheduled to September instead of the usual slot July due to going COVID-19, many of the same lineup remained the same, however several acts (including Sunday night headliner Lewis Capaldi) pulled out:

The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house. Headliners and most supporting acts typically play at both sites, with Reading's Friday line up becoming Leeds' Saturday line-up, Reading's Saturday line-up playing at Leeds on Sunday, and Leeds' Friday line-up attending Reading on Sunday. It was originally held over two days, and extended to three days from 2007. In 2016 the daily capacity was 70,000.

The Ninth Wave is a Scottish band. Formed in Glasgow, the band consists of Haydn Park-Patterson, Millie Kidd, Kyalo Searle-Mbullu and Calum Stewart. They have released two albums and one EP, all of which have been nominated for the Scottish Album of the Year Award.
