Municipal elections were held in South Africa on 1 March 2006,to elect members to the local governing councils in the municipalities of South Africa. The municipalities form the local government of South Africa and are subdivisions of the provinces,thus making them responsible for local service delivery,such as electricity,water and fire services.
Qubudile Richard Dyantyi has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly since 2019. He has been a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature since February 2018. Mvoko is the deputy provincial chairperson of the African National Congress (ANC). He held two posts in the province's Executive Council before being appointed to his current position.
Zamuxolo Joseph Peter was a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly from May 2019 until his death in July 2020. He was the mayor of the Makana Local Municipality from 2011 until 2015. Peter was a member of the African National Congress.

She was a councillor of the Kouga Local Municipality before her election to provincial legislature. Camealio-Benjamin is a member of the African National Congress.
Reinette Liebenberg is a South African politician,who was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in the 2019 general election. She is one of eight Democratic Alliance representatives in the provincial legislature. Liebenberg was a councillor of the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality before she was elected to the provincial legislature.

Dingaan Jacob Myolwa is a South African politician from the Eastern Cape who is a Member of the National Assembly for the African National Congress (ANC). He was appointed to parliament in 2021. Myolwa had previously served as a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2013 to 2014 and before that,as mayor of the OR Tambo District Municipality.
Mncedisi Nontsele is a member of the National Assembly of South Africa. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to parliament in 2019. Nontsele is a former mayor of the Lukhanji Local Municipality.
Mlindi Advent Nhanha is a South African politician and businessman from the Eastern Cape who has served as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since 2019. Nhanha is a member of the Democratic Alliance.
Kgosientsho or Kgosientso "Sputla" Ramokgopa is a South African politician who was the Mayor of Tshwane from 2010 to 2016. He was also a Member of the Executive Council in the Gauteng provincial government in 2019 and currently works in the Presidency of South Africa.
Princess Faku is a South African politician who has been deputy mayor of the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality since November 2021. Prior to serving as deputy mayor,Faku had been a member of the National Assembly between 2019 and 2021. Faku is a member of the African National Congress.
Rejoice Zibuyisile Phumlile Zulu is a South African politician who has represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature since February 2021. She was formerly a local councillor and Speaker in KwaDukuza Local Municipality between 2016 and 2021. She was the ANC's mayoral candidate for KwaDukuza in 2019 and 2020 but was blocked from the mayoral office by members of her own party.
Alpha Shelembe is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. Between 2006 and 2011,he was a local councillor in Msunduzi Local Municipality,where he was Speaker from 2006 to 2010 and Deputy Mayor for a brief period in 2011. He resigned from the council in June 2011 after prolonged protests calling for his removal. He is also known for his activities as a local ANC leader in the party's Moses Mabhida branch in Umgungundlovu,including as the branch's regional chairperson between 2012 and 2014.
