Carson Jones Daly is an American television host, radio personality, producer, and television personality. From 1998 to 2003, Daly was a VJ on MTV's Total Request Live (TRL), and a DJ for the Southern California-based radio station 106.7 KROQ-FM. In 2002, Daly joined NBC, where he hosted and produced the late night talk show Last Call with Carson Daly, and occasionally hosting special event programming for NBC, such as the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks show, and executive producing New Year's Eve with Carson Daly from Times Square beginning in 2003.

TV viewers being what they are, the votes are based not solely on the singers vocal performance, but also on his or her looks, clothes, entertainment value, and other factors. In the first four seasons the agelimit for participation was 16–28 years old. In season five it was changed to 16–35.

The title is a play of title of the movies 12 Angry Men and the 1997 TV remake, which aired a month before, that covers a jury deliberation. Winning videos were then shown more often on MTV. Its first host was Jancee Dunn, with Ananda Lewis replacing her later on.
VJ Search is the title of a reality television program aired on Canadian music video TV station MuchMusic. Focused on finding a new MuchMusic VJ to join the existing MuchMusic on-air personalities, the original search was a weekend-long on-air live event in 1995, with the first season crafted as a reality series presented in 2006, followed by a season series in 2009 and 2013. By 2014, MuchMusic had reduced its music content significantly, cancelling all VJ hosted programming and dropping "Music" from the station name, rebranding itself as Much. As such, 2013 was the last season of VJ Search.
