The Sanders "Sandy" Estes Unit is a privately operated prison in Venus, Texas. It is owned by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Originally opened in 1989, the Sanders Estes Correctional Center houses minimum and medium security inmates. Inmates’ intensive program service needs are addressed. The facility offers a wide range of programmatic opportunities to better prepare offenders for re-entry into society. In January 2009, MTC was awarded a 6-year, 9-month contract to operate the facility.
The Sanders Estes Unit assists local communities by providing offender crews for city, county and state work projects. The facility donates about 1200 hours of inmate community service each month.
Sanders Estes also partners with a local animal shelter to provide offenders with an opportunity to participate in the rehabilitation of abused and neglected dogs. The program runs ten weeks and focuses on animal rehabilitation through companionship, nutrition, daily exercise routines and obedience training. Upon successful completion of the program, the animals are placed with a suitable family.

W.J. Maxey Boys Training School was a juvenile corrections facility that served delinquent male youths ages 12–21 years old. The facility has sixty beds and provided services to Michigan youth who require intensive or specialized rehabilitation treatment and a high level of security and structure. Maxey closed on October 1, 2015, due to budget cuts in Michigan. I was at Maxey for 4 years and they had much more than 60 beds. There were 5 centers, Sequoyah, Olympic, Huron, Green Oaks, and Summit center. Each center had 7 units A hall through G hall. Each hall had 2 groups consisting of 12-24 juveniles. There was the school called the MAC or Maxey Academic Center. There was a walk way we would call "the walk" leading from centers to the Mac. There was also a church with a lake as well as Canadian geese who would poop all over the walk. True story not trolling. I was in Sequoyah E hall. Shot out to Mr Mullins, Mr Patrick Patila, Mr Grant, Mr Chris Higgs, Ms Michael's, Sheala Williams was a jerk no shot out to her, and shot out to all the other good staff.

Prisoner reentry is the process by which prisoners who have been released return to the community. Many types of programs have been implemented with the goal of reducing recidivism and have been found to be effective for this purpose. Consideration for the conditions of the communities formerly incarcerated individuals are re-entering, which are often disadvantaged, is a fundamental part of successful re-entry.
