Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya (born 1 June 1972) is an Indian politician who serving as Minister of Labour and Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports since 2024. [3] He is also a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat. [4]
Mandavaiya was born in a small village named Hanol in Palitana Taluka of Bhavnagar district of Gujarat State. [5] Born to a middle-class farmer family, he is the youngest amongst four brothers. He completed his primary education from the Government Primary School, Hanol and his high school studies from Songadh Gurukul. [6]
After completion of HSC, he did a certificate course in Veterinary Live Stock Inspector and has been educated at Songadh Gurukul and Gujarat Agriculture University, Gujarat. [7] He later completed his MA in political science from Bhavnagar University. [6]
In 2021, Mandavia obtained a Ph.D. in political science from Gujarat Institute of Development Research. [2]
Mansukh Mandaviya is currently the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Minister of Labour and Employment.
He became a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and soon became a State Executive Committee Member of ABVP, Gujarat Unit. [9] [10] He was appointed a leader of Yuva Morcha and then the President of BJP Unit of Palitana. Mr. Mandaviya also became the youngest Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Gujarat, when he was first elected in 2002. [9] After his tenure, in 2010, he became the chairman of Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Limited. [11]
At the young age of 38, Mansukh Mandaviya was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. [12] He was appointed the Secretary for State Unit, BJP Gujarat, in 2013 and General Secretary in 2014. [13] Later, in 2014, he was appointed the Gujarat State Incharge of BJP's High-tech & Mega Membership Drive Campaign. [14]
On July 5, 2016, Mansukh Mandaviya was sworn in as the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Chemicals and Fertilizers, in the Government of India. [15] He was re-elected for a second term as an MP in Rajya Sabha in March 2018. [16]
In the Asian continent, he has visited China, Israel, Oman, Nepal, Dubai and Uzbekistan. [17] He has also visited European countries including England, Germany and Hungary, along with South American countries such as Brazil and Argentina. The African continent has also been explored by Mr. Mandaviya, including countries of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini and Zambia. In an Oceania Region, he has visited New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji and Australia. [18]
In May 2019, Mansukh Mandaviya took oath as a Minister of State in the Council of Ministers, Government of India. He was the Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, along with being the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers. Mr. Mandaviya also represented India in the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland in January 2020. [19]
Mansukh Mandaviya took charge as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the Government of India on July 7, 2021, with an additional charge of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers. [20]
Mandaviya was honored by UNICEF for his contribution to women health-care initiatives and for distributing 10 crore sanitary napkins through Jan Aushadhi Kendras. [21] [22]
He was also honored by The Economic Times with the Business Reformer of the Year Award 2022 for Corporate Excellence. Credited with raising India's vaccination coverage to more than 70%, his leadership during and after the pandemic has been instrumental in the economy bouncing back from Covid. [23] [24]
India’s renowned newspaper The Indian Express in its prestigious list of 100 Most Powerful Indians in 2022 & 2023 placed him at number 25 & 27 respectively for boosting COVID-19 vaccination and improving the overall healthcare system. [25]
Mansukh Mandaviya is married to Neetaben Mandaviya and they have two children. [9]
Arun Jaitley was an Indian politician and attorney. A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jaitley served as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019. Jaitley previously held the cabinet portfolios of Finance, Defence, Corporate Affairs, Commerce and Industry, and Law and Justice in the Vajpayee government and Narendra Modi government.
Ram Vilas Paswan was an Indian politician from Bihar and the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in the first and second Modi ministries. Paswan was also the president of the Lok Janshakti Party, nine-times Lok Sabha member and two-time Rajya Sabha MP. Keshubhai Patel was an Indian politician who was the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 1995 and again from 1998 to 2001. He was a six-time member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He was a member of RSS since 1940s, of Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1960s, Janata Party in 1970s, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 1980. He left the BJP in 2012 and formed the Gujarat Parivartan Party. He was elected from Visavadar in the 2012 state assembly election but resigned in 2014 due to ill health and merged his party with BJP. He was awarded India's third highest civilian award the Padma Bhushan posthumously in 2021.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is an Indian politician and was the Union Minister of Minority Affairs. He had served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 2002 to 2022 and was Deputy Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha between 2021 and 2022.

Faggan Singh Kulaste is an Indian politician. He served as the Minister of State for Rural Development and Steel of India in the Government of India. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was sworn in as Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Steel on 30 May 2019 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician of Bharatiya Janata Party from Assam who serving as 9th Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways since 2024. He also the Member of the Rajya Sabha representing Assam since 2021 and also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs since 2021. He is the 14th Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 to 2021 and the former of Assam Legislative Assembly from Majuli from 2016 until he resigned in 2021 and from Moran constituency from 2001 to 2004. Amritlal Kalidas Patel is an Indian politician and physician. He is a former union minister of state in Government of India. He served as Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government from 1998 to 1999. He was a senior leader of Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party. He represented Mehsana constituency in the Lok Sabha from 1984 to 1999.
Parshottam Khodabhai Rupala is an Indian politician and Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in the Second Modi ministry. He was elected to 18th Lok Sabha from Rajkot. He was a member of Rajya Sabha, representing the Indian state of Gujarat and a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. Sanjaya Sinh, also known as Sanjay Singh, is an Indian politician and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was twice elected to the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh during the 1980s and held state ministerial posts. In 1990, he became a member of the upper house of the Parliament of India, which is known as the Rajya Sabha, and in 1998 he was elected to the lower house, called the Lok Sabha. His term in the 12th Lok Sabha session lasted until the following year. Jagat Prakash "J. P." Nadda is an Indian lawyer and politician who serving as the 34th Minister of Health, 25th Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers since 2024 and 11th President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 2020 and the member of the Rajya Sabha representing Gujarat since 2024. A key decision maker of the BJP, he is a close aide to Narendra Modi. He was the BJP's working president from 2019 to 2020. Nadda was also the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the first Modi ministry from 2014 to 2019 and Parliamentary Board Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. Nadda is the Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers in the third Modi ministry.
Chaudhary Balram Singh Yadav was an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh. He died on 4 July 2005, at the age of 66.

The Mahatma Gandhi 150th Birth Anniversary Year Padyatra or 2019 Gandhi March or "Gandhi Kooch" was a cultural march held during the celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, India. The 150km long march lasted for seven days from 16 January 2019 to 22 January 2019. The event was organized by Mansukh L. Mandaviya, the then Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizer, now Union Health and Family Welfare Minister of India and a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat. The march passed through 150 villages of Gujarat with 150 prominent followers of Gandhi as स्थायी पदयात्री while thousands of People joined the Padyatra Every day and Experienced the Gandhian Philosophy of Life. The aim of the march was to spread awareness for method of 'Basic Education' or 'Buniyadi Shikshan' an Education Method given by Mahatma Gandhi among public and to introduce the Gandhian philosophy to young generation.
