Nityanand Rai (born Nityanand Rai Yadav on 1 January 1966) [2] is an Indian politician and the current Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Government of India. [3] He was elected in the 2014 and 2019 General Election from Ujiarpur as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had continuously represented Hajipur constituency in Bihar legislative assembly winning elections since 2000 (2000,Feb-2005,October- 2005 and 2010) till he was elected for the parliament. [4] [5]
Nityanand Rai was born on 1 January 1966. The son of a farmer,Rai has been associated with the Sangh Parivar since 1981,joining the ABVP that year as a student activist. [6] Rai has done inter-caste marriage;his wife belongs to Kurmi caste of Bihar. [7]
On 23 May 2019,Rai became Minister of State for Home Affairs. [8] Rai joined politics from his college ABVP unit. He was elected for students union President in his college. Rai in the year of 2000 Bihar Assembly election got a ticket and won from Hajipur. He won the seat four times consecutively. In the 2014 general election Rai got the ticket for Parliamentary election from the neighbouring district as his home constituency is reserve seat for SC candidates. He won the election and became a Member of Parliament from Ujiarpur. In the 2016 Bihar Vidhan sabha election BJP has tried to promote him as Yadav [2] face to lure declining RJD voters. He has been made BJP Bihar President and after the 2019 election,he was made State Home Minister in NDA2 Council of Ministers.
Janata Dal (United) ("People’s Party (United)"),abbreviated as JD(U),is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar,Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Manipur. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. JD(U) states that they believe in promoting social justice and lifting up marginalized peoples.

Upendra Kumar Singh,commonly known as Upendra Kushwaha is an Indian politician,and a former Member of Bihar Legislative Council and Bihar Legislative Assembly. He has also served as Minister of State for Human Resources and Development in the Government of India. Kushwaha is a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Karakat constituency in Rohtas district,Bihar,and a former member of the Rajya Sabha. He was the leader of Rashtriya Samata Party (RSP),his own party,which merged into Janata Dal (United) (JDU) in 2009. Later,he formed Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP),which also merged with JD(U) in 2021. On 20 February 2023,Kushwaha resigned from all positions in Janata Dal (United) and formed his own party called Rashtriya Lok Morcha due to his political problems with JD(U) and Nitish Kumar.
