Floyd County, Iowa has 18 county parks that are managed by the Floyd County Conservation Board. [1] There are two wildlife management areas that are managed by the Iowa DNR, Idlewild WMA and Restoration Marsh WMA. [2] There are also 22 parks that are managed by local municipalities. [3]

Activities at county parks include camping, hiking, bicycling, fishing, hunting, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, environmental education, fossil hunting, and more.

Fishing is allowed in public locations along the Cedar River, Flood Creek, Little Cedar River, Rudd Lake, Shell Rock River and Winnebago River. A fishing license is required to fish in the state of Iowa. Check local and state regulations before fishing.

As of 2016, the NYSDEC owns and maintains 113 WMAs, with a total area of approximately 197,000 acres. The Wildlife Management Areas program is administered by the Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources of the NYSDEC.

Horse Creek Wildlife Management Area

Horse Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in Wyoming County near Pineville, West Virginia. Located on 47.9 acres (19.4 ha) that includes a small lake, the open fields of the WMA are bordered by steep hardwood forest.

Hughes River Wildlife Management Area

Hughes River Wildlife Management Area is located in Wirt County and Ritchie County near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Located on 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) that border both the Little Kanawha River and the Hughes River. The WMA terrain varies from river bottom to steep hillsides covered with second growth oak-hickory hardwood stands and younger pine-hardwood woodlots.

Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area Protected land area in West Virginia, United States

Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area is located between Dingess and Lenore in Mingo County, West Virginia. Located on 12,856 acres (5,203 ha) of steep terrain with narrow valleys and ridgetops, the WMA contains second growth mixed hardwoods and hemlock with thick understory of mountain laurel and rhododendron.

McClintic Wildlife Management Area

The Clifton F. McClintic Wildlife Management Area, known locally as "the TNT area", is a naturalized area located in Mason County about 5 miles (8 km) north of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Located on 3,655 acres (1,479 ha) of former wartime industrial land, the WMA is occupied by farmland, woodlands, and wetlands encompassing 31 ponds. The area still contains stored explosives.

Meadow River Wildlife Management Area

Meadow River Wildlife Management Area, is located near Rupert, West Virginia in Greenbrier County. Occupying 2,385 acres (965 ha) of river bottomland, the WMA is located along the Meadow River and consists mainly of wetlands habitat.

Pleasant Creek Wildlife Management Area

Pleasant Creek Wildlife Management Area is located near Philippi, West Virginia in Barbour and Taylor counties. Located on 3,030 acres (1,230 ha) land that varies from wetlands to steeply forested woodlands, the Pleasant Creek WMA rises to an elevation of 1,600 feet (490 m).

Pruntytown State Farm Wildlife Management Area

Pruntytown State Farm Wildlife Management Area, is located near Pruntytown, West Virginia in Taylor County. The WMA is managed as a beef cattle farm by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. Located on 1,764 acres (7.14 km2) gently sloping farmland with hay and pasture fields and woodlots on the steeper slopes.

Ritchie Mines Wildlife Management Area

Ritchie Mines Wildlife Management Area, is located near Smithville, West Virginia in Ritchie County. Ritchie Mines WMA is located on 2,300 acres (930 ha) of rugged, hilly woodlands.

Tug Fork Wildlife Management Area

Tug Fork Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is located about 10 miles northwest of Welch, West Virginia in McDowell County. Tug Fork WMA is located on 2,165 acres (876 ha) of steep terrain along hills above the Tug Fork River. The WMA is heavily forested, primarily with mixed hardwoods and yellow poplar/black cherry forests in the coves. The WMA is accessed from U.S. Route 52 at Premier. Several tracks and jeep trails provide walking access into the Tug Fork WMA from U.S. Route 52.

Turkey Run Wildlife Management Area

Turkey Run Wildlife Management Area, is located immediately north of Ravenswood, West Virginia in Jackson County. Turkey Run WMA is located on 27 acres (11 ha), consisting of a fishing lake and some small wooded hills around the lake.

Upper Mud River Wildlife Management Area

Upper Mud River Wildlife Management Area, is located about 12 miles (19 km) south of Hamlin, West Virginia in Lincoln County, U.S.A. Upper Mud River WMA is located on 1,425 acres (577 ha) of steeply forested terrain.

Woodrum Lake Wildlife Management Area

Woodrum Lake Wildlife Management Area, is located about 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Romance, West Virginia in Jackson County. Woodrum Lake WMA is located on 1,696 acres (686 ha) of hilly oak-hickory hardwood lots mixed with abandoned farmland.
