1,000 Grams, Vol. 1 is a mix-tape by the rap artist Jeezy hosted by DJ Scream. It was released on August 12, 2010. [1]
The mixtape has Jeezy rapping over samples of some of the most popular hip hop beats of 2010. [1] [2] The first track to be leaked from 1,000 Grams, was "Death B4 Dishonor", in which Jeezy samples Rick Ross' hit single "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)". On the track, Jeezy appears to be criticising Rick Ross by saying "How you blowin' money fast, you don't know the crew / Oh you're part of the fam, shit I never knew." However, in an interview with MTV, Jeezy claimed it was not a criticism and that the line was not aimed at anyone in particular. [3] DJ Scream hosts this mixtape and has many tags on it; a tagless (or no DJ) version of the mixtape has also been released. This is volume one of what appeared to be a new series by Jeezy, but so far[ when? ] there have been no official statements on when volume 2 will be released.

Pitchfork's Tom Breihan wrote that the mixtape "seems to exist to support his opening salvo against Ross. And judging by the respective quality of both this tape and Ross' great new Teflon Don , Jeezy is heading for a big L here." [2] David Malitz of The Washington Post called Jeezy's rhymes "cheaply glorifying" and the backing tracks "predictable". [4] Sam Hockley-Smith of The Fader said that while most mixtapes in which the artist raps over other people's songs consist of "watered down versions of the original" tracks, Jeezy on this mixtape is "always stable. Never really varying in tempo too much, just working with any beat that gets thrown his way. It’s a pretty sweet example of why this guy has outlasted a lot of his peers." [5]

John David Jackson, better known by his stage name Fabolous, is an American rapper. Raised in Brooklyn, he first gained recognition while still a senior in high school, when he performed live on American music executive DJ Clue's radio show, then on Hot 97. Jackson subsequently signed to DJ Clue's Desert Storm imprint, and later secured a distribution deal with major-label, Elektra. Jackson gained prominence with his first release, Ghetto Fabolous (2001), which spawned the hit singles "Can't Deny It" and "Young'n ". His second release was 2003's Street Dreams, which was supported by two US top 10 singles, "Can't Let You Go" and "Into You".
Jay Wayne Jenkins, known by his stage name Jeezy, is an American rapper. Signing to Def Jam Recordings in 2004, his major label debut, Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101, was released the following year and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling 172,000 copies in its first week and was later receiving platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Jeezy is credited, along with fellow Atlanta-based rappers T.I. and Gucci Mane, for helping to pioneer and popularize trap music with a mainstream audience.
Tyree Cinque Simmons, professionally known as DJ Drama, is an American DJ, record executive and music promoter. He is the co-founder of Generation Now, an Atlantic Records imprint with artists including Lil Uzi Vert, Jack Harlow, and Skeme on its roster. Algernod Lanier Washington, better known by his stage name Plies, is an American rapper. Born in Fort Myers, Florida, Plies was a wide receiver on the Miami Redskins football team of Miami University in Ohio in 1996 and 1997 before beginning his musical career. After dropping out of college, he was signed to Slip-n-Slide Records, he released four studio albums from 2007 until 2010. Plies debuted in 2007 with The Real Testament with successful singles "Shawty" and "Hypnotized". Plies also released two albums in 2008, Definition of Real and Da REAList, and later released Goon Affiliated in 2010.
We the Best is the second studio album by Miami-based DJ and Terror Squad member DJ Khaled. It was released on June 12, 2007, by Terror Squad Entertainment, distributed by Koch Records. DJ Khaled alongside fellow rapper Fat Joe and collectively handled as the executive producers on this album. Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, better known by his stage name Wale, is an American rapper. He first gained recognition in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug " became popular in his hometown, leading Wale to became locally recognized as he continued recording music for the regional audience. Wale met English DJ-producer Mark Ronson in 2006 and joined his label, Allido Records in 2007. While signed to that label, Wale released several mixtapes and appeared in national media including MTV and various Black American-focused magazines. A song called "Ridin' in That Black Joint" was featured in the popular video game Saints Row 2's soundtrack in 2008.
