The 1892 San Jose State Spartans football team represented State Teachers College at San Jose during the 1892 college football season. In their first year fielding an American football team, the Spartans lost in their sole contest against the local YMCA team of San Jose. The game technically occurred during 1893, but it represented the 1892 academic year and so that is the season it is counted. [1]

The 2020 San Jose State Spartans football team represented San José State University during the 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Spartans were led by fourth-year head coach Brent Brennan and played their home games at CEFCU Stadium and Sam Boyd Stadium as members of the Mountain West Conference. They finished the regular season 6–0 in Mountain West play and defeated Boise State in the Mountain West championship game. This was the Spartans' first Mountain West championship win and 17th overall conference title. The championship victory also marked San Jose State's first win over Boise State in program history.

In their third year of play, the Spartans achieved their first tie, a 6–6 decision against nearby College of the Pacific. The contest was played in late January 1896, but as was done in 1892, their game was counted in the 1895 academic year.

In their first and only year under head coach Thad McKay, the Spartans compiled their first undefeated record at 5–0–1, and outscored their opponents by a total of 80 to 17. Many other milestones characterized the 1898 season, including the program's first shutout, and intercollegiate win, and their first season in which they participated in multiple games.

In their only season under head coach Jess Woods, the Spartans compiled a 6–3–1 record, their first ten-game schedule. The season was highlighted by a record number of wins (six) and losses (three). They outscored their opponents by a total of 120 to 69, although they were outscored 56 to 11 by collegiate teams.

The 1900 San Jose State Spartans football team represented State Teachers College at San Jose during the 1900 college football season. The 1900 team was co-coached by three men, James Addicott, who was the first coach for the Spartans back in 1895, coach Whitemeger, and one of the most well-known coaches of his era, Fielding Yost. This trio of leadership did not allow the Spartans to repeat their record from the year before, compiling a mild 3–3–1, although for the first time all of the Spartan's games were against collegiate opponents.
