The 10th Lavant Cup was a motor race, run to Formula Two rules, held on 30 March 1959 at Goodwood Circuit, West Sussex. The race was run over 15 laps, and was won from pole position by Australian driver Jack Brabham in a Cooper T45-Climax. Roy Salvadori was second in a Cooper T43-Climax and set fastest lap, and Jim Russell was third in a Cooper T45-Climax. [1] [2]

Roy Francesco Salvadori was a British racing driver and team manager. He was born in Dovercourt, Essex, to parents of Italian descent. He graduated to Formula One by 1952 and competed regularly until 1962 for a succession of teams including Cooper, Vanwall, BRM, Aston Martin and Connaught. Also a competitor in other formulae, he won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin with co-driver Carroll Shelby.

Goodwood Circuit is a historic venue for both two- and four-wheeled motorsport in the United Kingdom. The 2.367-mile (3.809 km) circuit is situated near Chichester, West Sussex, close to the south coast of England, on the estate of Goodwood House, and completely encircles Chichester/Goodwood Airport. This is the racing circuit dating from 1948, not to be confused with the separate hillclimb course located at Goodwood House and first used in 1936.

Rob Walker Racing Team was a privateer team in Formula One during the 1950s and 1960s. Founded by Johnnie Walker heir Rob Walker (1917–2002) in 1953, the team became F1's most successful privateer in history, being the first and only entrant to win a World Championship Formula One Grand Prix without ever building their own car.

Kenneth McAlpine was third in a Connaught Type A-Lea Francis.

The 13th Lavant Cup was an Intercontinental Formula motor race held on 3 April 1961 at Goodwood Circuit, West Sussex. The race was run over 21 laps of the circuit, and was won by British driver Stirling Moss in a Cooper T53-Climax. Bruce McLaren started from pole, set fastest lap and finished second in another T53. Graham Hill was third in a BRM P48. The event was held on the same day as the 1961 Pau Grand Prix, which compromised the quality of the entry at both meetings.

The race was run over 15 laps of the circuit, and was won by British driver Innes Ireland in a Lotus 18. Ireland had also qualified in pole position, and set fastest lap during the race. Stirling Moss in a Porsche 718/2 was second and Roy Salvadori in a Cooper T51 was third.

Pole-setter Bruce McLaren was second in a McLaren-Elva Mk1--Oldsmobile and David Hobbs was third in a Lola T70-Ford.

The race was run over 7 laps, and was won by British driver Roy Salvadori in a Connaught Type A-Lea Francis, setting fastest lap in the process. Bob Gerrard in a Cooper T23-Bristol was second, just 0.8 seconds behind Salvadori, and Don Beauman was third in another Connaught Type A-Lea Francis.

The 8th Lavant Cup was a motor race, run to Formula Two rules, held on 22 April 1957 at Goodwood Circuit, West Sussex. The race was run over 12 laps, and was won from pole position by British driver Tony Brooks in a Cooper T41-Climax. Brooks had been penalised five seconds for jumping the start but still finished almost 18 seconds ahead of Jack Brabham in a Cooper T43-Climax. Ron Flockhart was third in a Lotus Eleven-Climax. Roy Salvadori set fastest lap in another Cooper T43-Climax but retired with clutch failure.

Graham Hill was second in a Lotus 12-Climax and set fastest lap, and Cliff Allison was third in another Lotus 12. Roy Salvadori started from pole position in a Cooper T43-Climax but crashed out on lap two.

Bob Gerard in a Cooper-Bristol was second and shared fastest lap with Salvadori. John Young was third in a Connaught-Lea Francis.
