An election for President of Israel was held in the Knesset on 30 October 1962. [1] Incumbent President Yitzhak Ben-Zvi stood again, and was the only candidate. He was re-elected with 62 of the 104 votes cast. Ben-Zvi's third term began on the day of the election. He later died before his term finished, on 23 April 1963.

The president of the State of Israel is the head of state of Israel. The position is largely a ceremonial role, with executive power vested in the cabinet led by the prime minister. The incumbent president is Isaac Herzog, who took office on 7 July 2021. Presidents are elected by the Knesset for a single seven-year term.

The eighth government of Israel was formed by David Ben-Gurion on 7 January 1958, and was the second government of the third Knesset. Ben-Gurion kept the same coalition partners as during the previous government, i.e. Mapai, the National Religious Party, Mapam, Ahdut HaAvoda, the Progressive Party, the Democratic List for Israeli Arabs, Progress and Work and Agriculture and Development. The only change to the cabinet was the addition of Shlomo-Yisrael Ben-Meir as a Deputy Minister.

The tenth government of Israel was formed on 2 November 1961 following the August elections. Although David Ben-Gurion was appointed Prime Minister, the government was actually formed by Minister of Finance Levi Eshkol. On 7 September Ben-Gurion had told President Yitzhak Ben-Zvi that he was unable to form a government; on 14 September Ben-Zvi asked Eshkol to form a government, with Eshkol subsequently announcing that he would do so with Ben-Gurion as PM. It turned out to be the last government led by Ben-Gurion.

An election for President of Israel was held in the Knesset on 26 March 1968. Zalman Shazar, who was elected in 1963 following the death of Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, ran unopposed for the position. Shazar's second term began on the day of the election. He would hold this position until 1973, when Ephraim Katzir was elected as the new President.
Zvi Hauser is an Israeli lawyer and public figure served as the 17th cabinet secretary. Hauser served as a Member of Knesset between 2019-2022. During this term he held a number of positions including: Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee and Head of the Israel-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association.
