The Democratic Rally is a Christian-democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Cyprus led by Annita Demetriou. The party was founded on 4 July 1976 by veteran politician Glafcos Clerides. Clerides served as the president of Cyprus from 1993 until 2003. From 11 March 2023, the leader of the party is Annita Demetriou, who also serves as the president of the House of Representatives from June 2021.
The Turkish invasion of Cyprus began on 20 July 1974 and progressed in two phases over the following month. Taking place upon a background of intercommunal violence between Greek and Turkish Cypriots, and in response to a Greek junta-sponsored Cypriot coup d'état five days earlier, it led to the Turkish capture and occupation of the northern part of the island.
The Central Bank of Cyprus, is the central bank of the Republic of Cyprus, located in Nicosia. It was established in 1963. Its current Governor is Constantinos Herodotou The bank issued Cypriot pound banknotes and coins prior to 2008, when Cyprus adopted the euro.
The London and Zürich Agreements for the constitution of Cyprus started with an agreement on 19 February 1959 in Lancaster House, London, between Turkey, Greece, the United Kingdom and Cypriot community leaders. On that basis, a constitution was drafted and agreed together with two prior Treaties of Alliance and Guarantee in Zürich on 11 February 1959.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 201, adopted unanimously on March 19, 1965, after reaffirming its previous resolutions on the topic and thanking all that nations who had contributed to it, extended the stationing of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus for another three months, to end on June 26, 1965.

The Council also called upon all member states to comply with this and previous resolutions, and upon the parties directly concerned to continue to act with the utmost restraint and to co-operate fully with the peacekeeping force.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 207, adopted unanimously on August 10, 1965, after a receiving report by the Secretary-General stating that recent developments in Cyprus had increased tension on the island, the Council reaffirmed its Resolution 186 and called upon all parties to avoid any action which would be likely to worsen the situation.
