Benjamin Abraham Braun is an American former men's college basketball coach and college basketball analyst. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Siena Heights University (1977–1985), Eastern Michigan University (1986–1996), the University of California, Berkeley (1996–2008), and Rice University (2008–2014), compiling a career coaching record of 615–517. He won the most games (185) of any head coach in the history of the Eastern Michigan Eagles men's basketball program and was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year three times. As the head coach of the California Golden Bears, he won the Pac-10 Coach of the Year and had a 219–154 record (.587). Braun currently is a studio and game basketball analyst for the Pac-12 Network.

The Southern California Baseball Association or SCBA was a baseball-only conference that existed from 1977 to 1984. It was made up of schools from the Big West Conference, then known as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), and West Coast Conference, then known as the West Coast Athletic Conference (WCAC). In 1977, the PCAA and WCAC realigned themselves for baseball only into a north conference (NCBA) and south conference (SCBA). In the league's inaugural season there were seven teams. The next year, UC Irvine joined, and from then until the demise of the conference the membership stood at eight schools. San Diego State left after the 1978 season but was immediately replaced by San Diego, and Cal State Los Angeles left after the next-to-last season of 1983 and was replaced for the league's final season by UNLV, the only non-California member in SCBA history. The SCBA was dominated by Cal State Fullerton who won the league title all eight seasons, while competing in four College World Series and claiming their first two national titles.

Cal State Los Angeles Diablos football team represented the California State University, Los Angeles from the 1951 season through the 1977 season. Between 1947 and 1963, the university was known as the Los Angeles State College and the athletic teams were known as Los Angeles State. When the university was renamed the California State College at Los Angeles, the athletic teams were re-branded as Cal State Los Angeles. In 1980, the university adopted the current Golden Eagles nickname.

The 1977 Cal State Northridge Matadors football team represented California State University, Northridge as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the 1977 NCAA Division II football season. Led by second-year Jack Elway head coach, Cal State Northridge compiled an overall record of 7–3–1 with a mark of 1–1 in conference play, placing second in the CCAA. The team outscored its opponents 264 to 179 for the season. The Matadors played home games at North Campus Stadium in Northridge, California.

The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen and Regals are the athletic teams that represent California Lutheran University, located in Thousand Oaks, California, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the Division III level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) since the 1991–92 academic year. The 2021 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship occurred from December 4–5, 2021 in Los Angeles, California at the Spieker Aquatics Center. This was the 53rd NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship. Seven teams participated in this championship. Opening round game-one was played at Princeton University. The UCLA Bruins were the defending national champions and the 2021 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) champions. The rankings before the tournament: No. 1 University of California, No. 2 University of Southern California, No. 3 University of California Los Angeles, No. 4 Stanford University, No. 5 Long Beach State University.

David Hiroshi Yanai is a retired basketball coach from the 1960s to 2000s. Yanai primarily coached boys basketball from the late 1960s to mid-1970s with Fremont High School. During this time period, Yanai won the 1975 CIF Los Angeles City Section title in boys basketball with Fremont. He continued his boys basketball career with Gardena High School during the late 1970s. As a high school coach, Yanai had 120 wins and 31 losses.

Bob Milano is an American college baseball coach. He served as the head coach of the California Golden Bears baseball team from 1978 to 1999.
