The 1980 San Miguel Beermen season was the sixth season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Beginning the Third Conference, the ballclub will be known as San Miguel Beermen, a beer brand long been used by the company in the MICAA will finally makes its debut in the PBA.

The defending champions bring back Otto Moore as their import in the Open Conference along with Bubba Wilson, a one-time backcourt man of the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. The Orangemen lost their first game to U-Tex but pick up their first win of the season four days after against Toyota Tamaraws, 93-84 on March 22. [1] RTO ends up last in the conference and tied with Tanduay at the bottom of the standings after 18 games in the eliminations.
San Miguel advances in the round of six of the All-Filipino Conference and the Beermen lost all their five assignments in the quarterfinal phase of the tournament.

The San Miguel Beermen are a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). It is one of three PBA clubs owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of companies along with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots. It is the most successful franchise in the history of the PBA and the only remaining original franchise in the league. The Beermen have the most titles with 29 and the most all-time victories with more than 1,200 wins. In addition, it has won the Grand Slam in 1989 and the Perpetual Jun Bernardino Trophy after winning three straight PBA Philippine Cups from 2015 to 2017. It is also the only team to have won at least one PBA title in each of the six numerical decades of the league's existence and was the first professional basketball team ever to come back from a 0–3 deficit to win a best-of-seven playoff series which they did during the 2015–16 Philippine Cup Finals.
The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is a professional basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The most popular team in the league, it is owned by Ginebra San Miguel, Inc., a subsidiary of the San Miguel Corporation (SMC). The team is one of three PBA ball clubs currently owned by the SMC group of companies, along with Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots and the San Miguel Beermen. Barangay Ginebra has won 15 PBA championships, the second most overall.
