American football, referred to as football in the United States and Canada and also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, which is the team controlling the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with or passing the ball, while the defense, which is the team without control of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and aims to take control of the ball for themselves. The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that operates in the Western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision, the higher of two tiers of NCAA Division I football competition.

Reginald O'Keith Rogers was a professional American football defensive tackle who played four seasons in the National Football League for the Detroit Lions (1987–1988), the Buffalo Bills (1991), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1992). He was also the younger brother of former Cleveland Browns safety Don Rogers, who died of cocaine poisoning in June 1986. Rogers also had six children; twins Reggie & Regina, Amanda, Brittany, Isiah, and Jackie.

Linebackers

Hardy Otto Nickerson is an American football coach and former player. He played as linebacker for four teams over 16 seasons, from 1987 to 2002, in the National Football League (NFL). Nickerson spent the prime of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The hiring of head coaches Sam Wyche and Tony Dungy allowed Nickerson to play in the middle in a 4–3 defense for both coaches; Nickerson played in a 3–4 defense with the Pittsburgh Steelers. While playing in the 4–3, Nickerson went to five Pro Bowls, and was selected for the National Football League 1990s All-Decade Team.

Joseph Winston Kelly, Jr. is a former American football linebacker who played eleven seasons in the National Football League for six different teams. He played college football at the University of Washington and was drafted in the first round of the 1986 NFL Draft.

Timothy McDonald is a former American college and professional football player who was a strong safety in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons during the 1980s and 1990s. McDonald played college football for the University of Southern California (USC), and was honored as an All-American. A second-round pick in the 1987 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Phoenix Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. Upon the conclusion of his playing career, McDonald entered coaching, most recently serving as the defensive backs coach for the Buffalo Bills.
