The 1985 FIVB Women's World Cup was held from 10 to 20 November 1985 in four cities in Japan such as Sapporo, Iwamizawa, Fukuoka, and Tokyo.

The Zepp music halls are a group of Japanese music venues covering every area of the country. They play host to many international tours and are a popular stop among Japanese musicians. The 1998 season was the sixth season of the J-League. The league began in March and ended in November. For this year, the division was contested by 18 teams. Júbilo Iwata won the 1st stage and Kashima Antlers won the 2nd stage. Kashima Antlers won the J.League title after winning both matches in the Suntory Championship.

The 91st Emperor's Cup (第91回天皇杯) was a regular edition of an annual Japanese national cup tournament. It started on 3 September 2011 and ended on 1 January 2012 with the final at National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, won by FC Tokyo 4–2 against Kyoto Sanga.

The 93rd Emperor's Cup (第93回天皇杯全日本サッカー選手権大会) is the regular edition of the annual Japanese national cup tournament. It started on 31 August 2013 and ended on 1 January 2014 with the final at National Stadium in Tokyo.

Opposed to the previous editions, the competition will not use the away goals rule. No byes awarded for the knockout stage and thus no knockout round playoffs.
