The 1987 season included 23 individual races, although multiple tracks hosted multiple races, with Oxford Plains Speedway having 6 dates and Darlington Raceway, Seekonk Speedway, and Dover Downs International Speedway having 2 dates each. James Peter Spencer is an American former racing driver, team owner, talk show host and television commentator. He is best known for competing in NASCAR. He hosted the NASCAR-inspired talk show, What’s the Deal?, on Speed, and was co-host, with John Roberts and Kenny Wallace, of Speed's pre-race and post-race NASCAR shows NASCAR RaceDay and NASCAR Victory Lane. Before retiring, Spencer had a segment on Speed's NASCAR Race Hub offering commentary and answering viewer questions. During his days racing modifieds, he was nicknamed "Mr. Excitement" for his aggressive racing style. Spencer is one of the few drivers to have won a race in all three of NASCAR's top series: the NASCAR Cup Series, the Xfinity Series, and the Truck Series.

Richard Charles "Chuck" Bown Jr. is a former NASCAR champion. His last ride came in 1999. He lives with his wife in Asheboro, North Carolina. He is the older brother of former fellow NASCAR competitor Jim Bown.

Orange County Speedway is a 0.375 mi (0.604 km) asphalt oval in Orange County, North Carolina, near Rougemont. It first opened in 1966 as a 0.250 mi (0.402 km) and a 0.625 mi (1.006 km) dirt oval, which operated until 1967 and 1973, respectively. The facility was reopened and paved in 1983. With a slogan of "the fastest 3/8-mile race track in America," the oval features 19-degree banking through the turns and 16 degrees on the straightaways, creating three distinct grooves making for very fast turns. The aluminum grandstands stretch from Turn 4 all the way down the front straightaway to Turn 1. The speedway closed in 2003 but reopened on March 11, 2006.

Lyndon Amick is an American former NASCAR driver. He spent most of his NASCAR career in the NASCAR Busch Series driving for his family-owned team.

The 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series was the 24th season of the third highest stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in North America. Christopher Bell entered as the defending champion, but he did not defend his championship, leaving his No. 4 Kyle Busch Motorsports entry to a number of drivers throughout the season, with Todd Gilliland covering the majority of the schedule in the truck. Title sponsor Camping World Holdings rebranded the series with their Gander Outdoors brand they acquired in 2017 for the 2019 season, replacing the Camping World brand.

Amber Balcaen is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver. She competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series, driving the No. 70 Toyota Camry for Nitro Motorsports. She is most known for being the first Canadian woman to win in a NASCAR-sanctioned race in the United States.
