Format

The eight teams in the tournament were split into two groups that competed in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group then advanced to a semifinal round, playing the top two teams in the other group. The two best teams and two worst teams in the semifinal then matched up in a three-game series for the gold and bronze medals, respectively. The bottom two finishers in each initial group competed in another round-robin format to determine the final standings. [1] [3]
