The European Baseball Championship is the main championship tournament between national baseball teams in Europe, governed by the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB). Italy won the inaugural European Baseball Championship in 1954, and the competition has since been dominated by the Italian team and the Dutch team. As of 2010, it is held every other year, in even-numbered years, with a total of 34 European Baseball Championships having been played.

At the end of the season, Molinari won 5 out of 5 points as Europe won the 2018 Ryder Cup.
Andrew Howe is an Italian athlete who specializes in the long jump. He won this event as well as the 200 metres at the 2004 World Junior Championships. He was successful at senior level at a young age, winning a long jump bronze at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships before becoming the European Champion later that year. In 2007 he became the European Indoor Champion and won the silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics.
