The 1991–92 season was the most successful season in the history of KK Partizan. Partizan took the title of European champion and also won the Yugoslav League and the Yugoslav Cup.

Omar-Sharif Cook is an American-born, naturalized Montenegrin professional basketball player for Herbalife Gran Canaria of the Liga ACB. He was also member of the Montenegro national basketball team. He is widely known for bypassing the remaining 3 years of his college eligibility and entering the 2001 NBA draft after his freshman season. Prior to entering the draft he was considered a top 10 overall prospect by several NBA scouts.

The YUBA League was the highest tier level men's professional club basketball competition in FR Yugoslavia, later Serbia and Montenegro. Founded in 1992 and folded in 2006, it was run by the Basketball Federation of Serbia and Montenegro.
The McDonald's Championship was an international men's professional basketball club cup competition that featured a representative of the National Basketball Association against champion club teams from Europe, Australia, and South America. The 1992–93 FIBA European League, also shortened to 1992–93 FIBA EuroLeague, was the 36th season of the European top-tier level professional club competition for basketball clubs. It featured 42 competing teams from 33 different countries. The final of the competition was held on April 15, 1993, at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Piraeus, Greece, with Limoges CSP defeating Benetton Treviso, by a score of 59–55. The defending title holder, Partizan, was not allowed in the competition because of United Nations Security Council Resolution 757, which imposed sanctions against Yugoslavia.

Luka Bogdanović is a Serbian former professional basketball player who last played for Joventut Badalona of the Liga ACB. Standing at 2.04 m, he plays at the small forward position.
Petar Skansi is a retired Croatian professional basketball player and coach. During his playing career, he played for Jugoplastika and Maxmobili Pesaro. He was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991. He was a member of the senior Yugoslav national basketball team squad that won the silver medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics.
The 1991–92 FIBA European League, also shortened to 1991–92 FIBA EuroLeague, was the 35th installment of the European top-tier level professional club competition for basketball clubs. The competition's Final Four was held at the Abdi İpekçi Arena in Istanbul, Turkey. It was won by Partizan, who defeated Montigalà Joventut, by a result of 71–70.
The 2012–13 ABA League was the 12th season of the ABA League, with 14 teams from Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Hungary participating in it. This was the first time a team from Macedonia, MZT Skopje, and a team from Hungary, Szolnoki Olaj were taking part in this regional league, and the fourth time since the league's creation that team that is not from the former Yugoslavia participates in it. The Crvena Zvezda–Partizan basketball rivalry, commonly referred as the Eternal derby, is a Adriatic League, Serbian League, and Belgrade-based rivalry between Crvena zvezda and Partizan. These two basketball clubs are the biggest and most popular clubs in Serbia. The two clubs both play their home games at Aleksandar Nikolić Hall or Štark Arena in Belgrade. The rivalry started immediately after the creation of the two clubs in 1945 and the two clubs have been dominant in domestic basketball since then. It is present in a number of different sports but the most intense matches are in football sections of both clubs.
