Queralbs Municipality in Catalonia, Spain

Queralbs is a municipality in the comarca of the Ripollès in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the Pyrenees to the north of Ribes de Freser, near the peaks of Puigmal (2909 m), Infern (2896 m) and Noufonts (2864 m). Tourism and hydroelectricity are the bases of the local economy. The Virgin of Nuria shrine is situated in the municipality, to the north of the village in Vall de Núria: it houses a romanesque mural image of la Mare de Déu de Núria. The shrine is reached by Vall de Núria Rack Railway from Ribes de Freser, which also serves the village. There is also a local road to Ribes de Freser, which serves the ski resort.

R3 (Rodalies de Catalunya)

The R3 is a line of Rodalies de Catalunya's Barcelona commuter rail service, operated by Renfe Operadora. It runs northwards from the Barcelona area to the French border town of Latour-de-Carol, passing through the Vallès Oriental, Osona and Ripollès regions. With a total line length of 165.9 kilometres (103.1 mi), it extends notably beyond the limits of the Barcelona metropolitan area, reaching the Pyrenees mountains. According to 2008 data, the line's average weekday ridership is 22,841.

Plans for Winter Olympics held in Barcelona

Barcelona hopes to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2026. Barcelona is a city on the North-East coast of Spain, and is the second largest city of Spain and the capital of the autonomous community of Catalonia. Parts of the Games would also take place at La Molina, a mountain resort in the Pyrenees. A bid was considered for the 2022 Olympics, but mayor Xavier Trias concluded that the city was not yet prepared after being told so by the IOC, stating that one "must concentrate its efforts and commitment to work to reach the Olympic target by 2026." Barcelona previously hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics.

The 1980 Catalan regional election was held on Thursday, 20 March 1980, to elect the 1st Parliament of the autonomous community of Catalonia. All 135 seats in the Parliament were up for election. This was the first regional election to be held in Catalonia since the Spanish transition to democracy and the second democratic regional election in Catalan history after that of 1932.

Citizens for Change was a political platform in Catalonia created in 1999 to support Pasqual Maragall's bid to the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia in order to put an end to the hegemony of Jordi Pujol's Convergence and Union after two decades in government. After Maragall's first and only term in office, CpC was reformed as a civic-political association. It contested the 1999, 2003 and 2006 regional elections in alliance with the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC).

Junts per Catalunya Catalan republican coalition
