The 1994 Badminton World Cup was the sixteenth edition of an international tournament Badminton World Cup. The event was held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 1994 with a total prize money of US$170,000. Indonesia won both the singles event with women's doubles while Malaysia won Men's doubles and cross country pair from Denmark & Sweden won the mixed doubles.

Rudy Gunawan is a former Indonesian badminton player who played between 1980s and 1990s. He is arguably one of the best doubles players ever to play for Indonesia. Rudy Gunawan won various international championships, both in the men's doubles and mixed doubles events. He has paired up with players such as Eddy Hartono, Rosiana Tendean, Bambang Suprianto, and Ricky Subagja. He was on the Thomas Cup team of Indonesia five times but only won gold in 1994 and 1996. In addition, he helped strengthen the Indonesian team in the race for 1989, Sudirman Cup.

Denny Kantono is a retired Chinese-Indonesian badminton player who specialized in men's doubles. He shared numerous international titles with his regular partner Antonius Ariantho including the French (1993), Hong Kong (1993), Denmark (1994), Thailand (1994), Chinese Taipei, and Indonesia (1996) Opens; as well as the Badminton World Cup (1996) and World Badminton Grand Prix (1998) events. They were runners-up at the prestigious All-England Championships in 1995 and bronze medalists at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

S. Antonius Budi Ariantho is a retired Indonesian badminton player who specialized in men's doubles. During the 1990s he shared numerous international titles with his regular partner Denny Kantono including the French (1993); Hong Kong (1993); Denmark (1994); Thailand (1994); Chinese Taipei ; and Indonesia (1996) Opens; and the Badminton World Cup (1996) and World Badminton Grand Prix (1998) events. Lee So-hee is a South Korean badminton player. She won the women's doubles title at the 2017 All England Open tournament. She also helped the Korean national team to win the world team championships at the 2017 Sudirman Cup. She reached a career high of world no. 2 in the women's doubles in November 2017 partnered with Chang Ye-na. For her achievements in 2017, Lee who affiliated with the Incheon International Airport team, was awarded as the best player of the year by the Badminton Korea Association.

Kim Won-ho is a South Korean badminton player. Kim who was educated at the Maewon High School, competed at the 2016 Asian Junior Championships, and won the silver medals in the mixed doubles and team event. He was also a bronze medalist at the 2017 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles and team event. Kim is the son of the Olympic gold medalist Gil Young-ah. He was the youngest player from the Korean national team who competed at the 2017 Sudirman Cup. He played one match, in the opening tie with Russia in the round robin stage. In the final round, Korea won the title after beating China by the score of 3–2. He represented Korea in the 2018 Thomas Cup but lost the match against Indonesia and therefore eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Liu Lu was a former Chinese badminton player. She was part of the national team that clinched an Uber Cup in 1998 Hong Kong. In the individual events, she participated at the 1994 World Junior Championships clinched a gold medal in the girls' doubles event partnered with Yao Jie. Teamed-up with Qian Hong, she won the women's doubles title at the 1996 Scottish Open and 1997 Swedish Open. Liu also won a gold and a silver medal at the 1997 Asian Championships in the mixed doubles event with Zhang Jun, and in the women's doubles with Qian respectively. Liu and Qian also settled for a bronze medal at the 1997 World Championships. In January 1998, she was recorded as women's doubles world No. 4 in the IBF world ranking.

Qian Hong was a former Chinese badminton player. She was part of the national team that clinched an Uber Cup in 1998 Hong Kong. In the individual events, she participated at the 1994 World Junior Championships clinched a gold medal in the mixed doubles event partnered with Zhang Wei, and a silver medal in the girls' doubles event with Wang Li. Teamed-up with Liu Lu, she won the women's doubles title at the 1996 Scottish Open, and 1997 Swedish Open. At the 1997 Asian Championships, she won two silver medals in the mixed and women's doubles event, and also settled for a bronze medal at the World Championships in the women's doubles event.

Chen Xingdong is a Chinese former badminton player. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the mixed doubles event together with his partner Peng Xinyong. Chen was part of the Sichuan Sports Technology College team since 1984 and retired from the international tournament in 1997. In 1998, he was selected as a coach in Sichuan Province team and at the same year he join national team as a men's team coach. In early 2000, he focused as a mixed doubles coach.

Huang Zhanzhong is a Chinese badminton player. He won the men's doubles title at the 1995 Asian Cup, and was part of Chinese team that won the 1990 Asian Games and 1995 Sudirman Cup. Huang competed in the men's doubles tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Wu Yuhong is a former Chinese badminton player. Yuhong was the runner-up in 1993 Birmingham World Championships and has won medals in several other prominent competitions such as World Cup, Uber Cup, Asian Cup, Asian Championships, Asian Games and East Asian Games.

Li Lingwei is a Chinese badminton player of the 1980s. She was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2012, and in December 2016, she was elected Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee. Li is heavily involved in improving women’s participation and fair representation in sport.
